It's been a while since I last made an MOC, so, last night, I decided to create a new one. It's a quick build, over the course of about 5 hours today and yesterday.
This new MOC is the RA-23 Peregrine, a fighter. What you may notice first is its obvious lack of a cockpit. This is because the fighter is autonomous (unmanned, in other words), and it doesn't need a pilot. While a pilot is definately better than a computer in terms of judgement and creativity, a computer follows orders flawlessly, and the aircraft can perform maneuvers a pilot may not be able to withstand.
Here we have an overhead view of the Peregrine. My initial intent when creating this quick build was to create a small ground attack drone, but that grew into this. The colors on this are white and gray, though that's only winter camouflage. The AOG has no official vehicle color scheme (because color schemes are gay) other than camouflage colors. Here it is in what can be called "attack mode," where the aircraft's wings are swept back for minimum drag.
The wings do move, like in an F-14 or other variable geometry aircraft. Seen here, it's in takeoff mode, where the wings are swept forward to create more lift for takeoff. This also creates drag when airborne, allowing for slow bombing runs.
A close-up of one of the fighter's primary weapons, the auto cannon. It fires armor-piercing explosive rounds at a high rate, meaning it can quickly destroy enemy aerospace craft and ground vehicles quickly. Two autocannons come standard on the RA-23, though it has two hardpoints to mount additional weapons on.
I did the bottom differently this time, opting for using Technic pins to hold a series of upside-down bricks with tiles over them into place on the bottom. This allows it to be fairly smooth, instead of having the bumpiness of the bottoms of plates or bricks.
In this shot, you can see the nozzle of the engine. Peregrines utilize a fusion engine, which creates a contained fusion reaction that is used to propel the aerospace craft forward. While extremely powerful in atmospheric conditions, it can be used both in space and in the air, and it is more efficient than a conventional rocket engine.
Ah, one of the crappy hardpoints I made... Just one piece per hardpoint, though I plan on changing that. Expect better hardpoints, attachable weapons, and more improvements in the next version of the fighter.
The rear of the fighter. Not much to say here, though I need to fulfill my witty comments quota...
The engine makes the rear quite hot. Almost as hot as your mom's rear.
It's got a good overall design, but it could use more work with the structure. It seems like you've got a pretty solid block of plastic, you could probably hollow it out and add a bunch of cool details, or fold out components. The only other thing is the very top of the craft, as well as the wings. They seem too smooth and flat.
