Dr. Richardson was the first to see it. A glimmering speck amidst the chaotic jungles in the core of Hiaquey 7. We were all drawn to it, but he reached it slightly before the rest of us. It was about the size of a grain of rice, and it was just floating there, with no connection to the ground or trees. All of us were simply entranced by it, so it was no surprise when Fogarty decided to encase it and bring it back to the lab. He was in that lab for eight straight weeks. Eight weeks is a long time to wonder, so we figured that when the airlocks opened and he exited the lab, he would quench our curiosity, but he didn't say a word.
Schedules soon returned to normal and it wasn't long before we went on another excursion into the misty forest. As we rounded a bend, I turned my head back briefly to check on Sampson, who was usually positioned at the back of the group, but he wasn't in sight. Fearing the worst, we quickly raised our rifles and cautiously back-tracked through the dew-covered ferns. We found Sampson, and the scenario was the worst. A Zastrak Snake had pierced Sampson's foot with its venomous fangs, and it was slithering towards his neck in an utterly malevolent manner. With frantic speed but precision, I popped two rounds into the creature's skull. Chad, the medic, rushed towards Sampson, but it was too late.
Everyone slowly gathered around and stared at Sampson's corpse in silence... ...everyone, that is, except Fogarty. He took off his field bag, unlatched a pocket, and unveiled a metal jar. From his facial expressions I could tell that he was in intense contemplation. He opened the jar.
Inside the jar was the mysterious thing we had been so entranced by: the shiny, floating object. We were shocked when Fogarty reached towards the thing, as we had only seen it being held with lab instruments. Fogarty's hand neared the object, but it appeared that it became increasingly harder to reach, as if there was a force field preventing him from grabbing it. Fogarty, with all his strength, passed through the "field" and grasped the object. He got up with the item in hand, and paced towards Sampson. Fogarty knelt down next to Sampson, and stabbed him with the mysterious object. Moments after Fogarty did this puzzling action, he fell swiftly onto the ground. Then...
...Sampson sat up, and dusted off his shoulders as if nothing had happened.

Immediately after this bewildering incident, we searched through all of Fogarty's research. We found what we were looking for. This object, which is in fact a living organism, has the ability to bring someone back to life through an extremely complex, yet simple process, which we have dubbed GRACE. But what is so fascinating is that this organism cannot act on its own - it must have a willing wielder. Dr. Fogarty could not have been forced to use the organism, the only way he was able to use it was because he was willing even though he knew the consequences - death. Right after the organism injects the life-giving substance, it springs back and propels a toxic spore into the wielder, which kills him instantly.

Three days after the incident, there was a spectacular flash at dawn. I went outside with Chad to investigate. The only thing we noticed was that Fogarty's body was gone from his grave. We're looking into this...

Note: The model can actually "shoot" the spore. When you push on the sharp end, the pirate hats unfold and fall off, and the spore (the black sphere) shoots a few inches. Hooray for functions!

Happy Easter everyone! :)
