The Archangel composes a small portion of the Sarran Aerospace Legion. It's a heavier fighter with a variety of cannons and missiles. The Archangel is the lightest fighter to be armed with an "Armageddon" Cannon, and they are definitely put to good use. Despite it's large size, it is surprisingly fast and agile. It's a force to be reckoned with and any pilot who's willing to go head-to-head with this ship will likely be in for the last fight of his life if alone.
As all of my spaceships (well, even if this is only my second), this features pieces that separate for easy transport. It separates into three parts: The cockpit, the body, and the "halo."
Not Much to say about the halo really. I'm not even sure what it's function is aside from making the ship look cooler. Uh, it can... it can hold... bombs. Yeah! Bombs, that was the purpose of it from the beginning. Yep.
A little Easter egg for ya'll (and on Easter too!)
According to Scorp, the Sarran ships' interiors are "very spacious." I was a bit daunted by this at first because I like packing detail into the smallest, molecular-sized crevices and making things cluttered and close together. Spacious is the opposite of how I like building things. I did get over it, and I think I put together a good cockpit. I started out with the cockpit this time. It was a challenge of thinking a design; it took several days of brainstorming before I just started putting bricks together, and then after that, everything just flowed. How 'bout them apples?
The body proved a bit difficult to build. I was a bit afraid I had exhausted my white slops from the cockpit, which I sort of did, but settled for adding light grey slopes to it. It didn't look bad, though I would've preferred the ship be completely white. The body is where the majority of the cannons and missiles are, as well as the "Armageddon" cannon hidden on the underside of its belly.
As an added feature, an "Armageddon" heavy cannon was included. This cannon is a high concentrate of energy and is devastating to large carriers and bases when many are fired. It's downsides is that a great majority of the power in the fighter is needed to fire the cannon, and it takes 15-30 seconds for the ship to reach an efficient functioning level. Because of this, Erelim fighters and Archangels are known to surround these ships as they shoot and a recharged. A human soldier in the Xenocide war reported this, "...looked as if the fabric of space was being split. The carrier that had been the center of several of these shots lit up to a searing intensity and seemed to implode on itself. Though earily silent, I 'magine it sounded like the trumpets of Armageddon..."
Here is the pilot next to his ship. He's a member of the Templar order, which is why he's garbed in such crazy armor (and because I had no idea what else to dress him in). I'm not sure what the weapon is in his hand. Something more ceremonial, just like his shiny helmet, I would guess.
I also took some pictures outside, just 'cause it was nice out, which is pretty rare where I live.
Other things to say: So far, this is my 2nd spaceship, and man, I gotta say I'm enjoying making these. This one was far easier than my first one, which might've had something to do with me building it in 3 days as opposed to a little bit every several months. The design of the ship is somewhat reminiscent of the Slave I from Star Wars, which provided a bit of inspiration for the ship (even the cockpit pieces are the same), however if you looked through you'll see they're much different in form and [somewhat different] in function. Again, this is for a sci-fi universe called Nova Refuge created by Justin "Saber-Scorpion" Stebbins (look him up, he's got some good stuff, and see more Nova Refuge stuff here: http://www.novarefuge.com/ ). This was for a contest on his website, and being like I am, today is the last day to enter your build (yeah, procrastination!)
I hope you enjoyed seeing this build; comments and criticisms are always appreciated!

This is really cool! It reminds me of the Slave 1, though not in a bad way. The halo is neat. Bet you're glad you finally found a use for that massive canopy, eh?
Thanks! The Slave 1 was definitely the inspiration. Yep, it's one of those pieces that you wrestle with finding any kind of use for. Thanks for taking the time to comment ^_^
