LCC - Garheim LC10 Phase 2 "The Blackstone Tower"
About this creation
Here's my entry for phase 2 of the LC10 over at Classic Castle.

Summer had come to the southern mountains of the province of Garheim, but a time that should be spent herding cows, sheep, and oxen to pastureland was spent preparing for the probability of war. If half of the rumors that had reached Castle Moore were true, war with the southern nations was inevitable. But Garheim would be ready.

Castle Moore could only be reached from the south by passing through the Skyview Vale - a narrow passage through steep mountains - and the Garhims knew it. Long ago, when the stones of Castle Moore were newly set, the First Men had built a tower of unmortared stone in time of need that had stretched between the cliffs at the vale's narrowest point. Nothing remained of that tower but a memory - until now. With war looming on the horizon, Lord Elson Moore had ordered the tower rebuilt, though this time with something stronger than plain stone.

Wagons pulled by horses who normally pulled plows this time of year hauled in strange black stone from the crater of Mount Ihraheim - a long dormant volcano in the southern mountains.

Obsidian.

The stone was quarried and brought to the Vale while artisans and stonemasons carved and shaped the smooth mineraloid into manageable blocks.

"Thank you Byron; there's a good lad," Sir Layton Connors grunted as he carefully took the obsidian block from the squire; the stone often left incredibly sharp edges and there was no time to grind nor polish the blocks. "Tell Corky we'll need a few dozen more like this one."

The scaffolding creaked beneath his boots as Sir Cedric Archer carried a block form the pile to the wall. They had been at it for two days but he knew they wouldn't stop until it was finished, working in shifts when the sleep became a necessity. The wall would certainly stop Loreesi cavalry even at this height but the Lenfel were famous for using ropes with hooks on the ends to scale castle walls; it would have to be much taller still.

Gods help us if they attack too soon. Rebuilding the wall was an excellent idea but we can't rely solely upon it; it will still come down to men and women - face to face - blade to blade.

How did it come to this?

Quoting Evan 'Beardless Dwarf' Botkin Nice job! I like all the obsidian and some good minifig positions.
Thanks a lot! I thought it'd be a unique idea and I think it turned out great. It's about time you joined "the cause" man, lol. Garheim could use a good builder like you.
