Darth Maul
The Phantom Menace might not be considered the high-point of Star Wars lore, but who can deny what a cool creation Darth Maul was.

Well, I'm pretty much echoing what I said on Flickr. Superb work, David. You captured a great moment in a movie trilogy that had few of them. However, in all of the saga that has been completed to date, this guy is certainly one of my favorite characters. Well done.

The face is brilliantly and yet so simply made. I like how you've used sloping bricks at the bottom of the face so that it is actually separate from the surrounding hood.

Quoting A M The more you develop this style, the more I love it (or maybe it's just all the Star Wars MOCs). Superb job, once again!
Good news, as I have some more Star Wars lined up very soon.

Quoting Garett Smith These types of creations are wonderfully constructed! I love the "movement" feel in the MOC.
Thanks Garett.

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 character design is one of georges s strong point, but, the combat was spectacular as well, the face and cowl are nt easy to do, congrats david!
I was very happy with the cowl.

It's a really fun way of building, a little trip to Bricklink might help me push things forward.

Quoting Jared . Personally, the only thing I ever liked about the movie. Keep in mind I was pretty young at the time... nonetheless, we're talking about this awesome creation here rather than spoiled memories. Excellent rendition, you've certainly done the 'Maul justice!
Thanks Jared, glad I reminded you of something good about TPM.

Surprising how organic those slopes can be.

Quoting matt rowntree I could fill volumes with my dissertations regarding THAT movie, but I will admit Darth Maul was a real high point (and the sound effects of the pod race. THAT'S IT!) You nailed the feel here: Fierce. I'm also glad you stuck with the single blade, makes it seem more menacing and calculating. It's a shame they killed him! =)
I have my own alternative narrative for the prequel movies, which I like to think in my head is the real story. Maybe one day I will build it in LEGO.

Quoting Nils O. For me the moment when Darth Maul reveals his face to the Jedi is still one of the best takes of the whole Star Wars series... In 3D it was even cooler - And no, I won't say anything that positive about the rest of the movie ;-)) Your Maul is extremely cool, especially because it's mainly 2D and looks like 3D. Great job, again! :-))
The movie was a huge disappoint to me to. I love using forshortening to describe depth in these 2D builds, starting to get the hang of it now.

I think he always seemed coolest earlier in the film with his cowl up and only the single blade revealed on his saber.
