OBLIVION Class Transport Mech
Dawn Forge's newest and most sophisticated mech yet!
About this creation
Ready to bring total destruction to the battlefield, the OBLIVION Class Transport mech is much more suited for combat than the previously built "Grimlin Class mech". Though it is more lightly armed, the OBLIVION's role is more intended to be for patrolling controlled areas, and for escorting valuable supplies. However it can also be more heavily equipped for frontline combat.

OBLIVION Class Transport Mech

Feet

The feet can cover almost any terrain, thanks to both a nylon fiber substance for grip, and magnetic stabilizers for a secure battle stance.

Legs

One of Dawn Forge's minor flaws is that the design engineers can never seem to hide the components.

Back/Legs

The back of the legs are heavily armored to ensure nothing slows the mech down.

Torso

Like most others in the Dawn Forge lineup, the torso offers a, rather large, air intake vent necessary to keep all of the components from overheating and malfunctioning.

Front

The front of the canopy offers the vital protection, crucial to the pilots safety. Like most other Dawn Forge mechs, the OBLIVION utilizes the drive by wire system.

Right Profile

Right Profile

Left Profile

Left Profile

Back

The rear of the mech also contains greeble components, along with the- all important - hoses.

Right side

The right side of the mech boasts a, devastating, high powered, 80mm machine gun. This bad boy can "turn an oversized tin can, into a really dented oversized tin can."

Left Side

The left side of the Oblivion features both a missile rack, and a rail gun. The rail gun has an average range of about 55 miles, but should only be fired in bursts to avoid overheating.

Missile Rack

Equipped with four, state of the art, heat-seeking missiles, this mech never misses her target.

Cockpit

When comparing the OBLIVION's cockpit to other's in the Dawn Forge military, you will notice it is much larger than the rest. One of the many perks to piloting this beast.

Hip Area

Some side detailing of the leg area. You can see the 4th Ironclad Division's signature emblem on the hip.

Scale

An example of the large size of the Oblivion. At 150 tons, it's a force to be reckoned with!

Mission Brief

A short mission brief with the valiant pilot, Major Calpernia Flax.

Now some action shots!

On Patrol

Stalking

Oblivion Class Assault Mech

Searching for any signs of disturbance in the unfamiliar environment.

Canopy

End with a, semi, artistic shot.

4th Wall:
Oh boy, it's finally finished! I set out to build a large mech quite some time ago. In about December I had built the canopy, but I kind of put the project on hold, because I didn't think I'd be able to make a pair of legs to support the "head." I wanted to put my previous Dawn Forge mech, the "Grimlin" to shame, and I think I succeeded; big time! I finished the whole mech about a week ago, after various different feet and canopy designs. I hope this becomes my most popular creation, because I certainly think it is one of my best. Once again thanks to Brian Kescenovitz, for both the amazing theme, and much inspiration!

God Bless!

This mech is outstanding, those legs are so powerful looking. I'd hate to be underfoot! Great work and really fine attention to detail. Thanks for your review on my DA mode, I appreciate it and it helps me in the game. Cheers.

Quoting Lando L. Jackson It was very presumptuous of you to call this the "Dawn forge's newest and most sophisticated mech yet."
Well, technically it is the newest Dawn Forge mech :P

It was very presumptuous of you to call this the "Dawn forge's newest and most sophisticated mech yet", considering it is Brian Kescenovitz's theme, but aside from that, this is a decent mech.

Thanx for commenting on my landspeeder! (More Star Wars creations to come) If you enjoyed this creation you can join my Star Wars group 'star wars models and customs' This looks really good! If I had as many peices as u used in this MOC I might actually be able build an awesome mech like this one day! Great job!

Quoting Builder Allan That is a VERY cool mech! Great detailing all over and an effective, no-nonsense look. However, at 150 tons you might run into problems in soft terrain. Have you considered using ceramic or carbon-based armor? That would bring the weight down quite a bit and be stronger than steel-based armor :-)
Thanks for the comment, and I'll be sure to take up the armor idea with the engineers ;)

Quoting Open Flame Perhaps a cockpit that was either longer (e.g. Grimlin) or one larger (e.g. Foundation) would be better.
I like the way it currently looks. Plus I don't think the legs could take much more weight.

Quoting Zane Houston wow, I didn't know Dawn Forge was still around. anyways it's a great looking mech; nice and sturdy, not too many greebles, not too few, realistically scaled weapons. Solid job all the way around! (however, i didn't know DF was German now ;)
Eh, I'm trying to keep it somewhat alive, though I am one of the few that still build in the theme. The flag is close to Germany's but is just out of order ;P Anyways, thanks for the kind words Zane, I really like hearing from you.

Quoting Open Flame Also, a slightly larger cockpit might look good.
Yeah, the current one somewhat cluttered. I should've gotten a better picture.
  May 2, 2013
Well, I looked at it again and I realized it's not the amount of lbg as where it is placed. Usually, it would make up the joints, with dk bley armor making up the coverings. Also, a slightly larger cockpit might look good.

I'd say the weak spot on this mech is the air intake on the front. If a small enough explosive gets in there, it could do enough damage to take out the cooling system. Still looks good and sturdy though.

Wow. Gorgeous mech. It looks like you're taking your inspiration from the right place. I love the think legs and the huge feet. Really makes this thing look dangerous and that it would do nothing but damage. Nice weaponry as well. The greebling on the front of the leg is a nice touch. Well done.

The simple design is always a good route to go when you are going for something that is just practical and not too flashy. I do think that some leg articulation pictures would be of great use. Also, the name designates it as a "Transport Mech", but what does it transport? Besides a pilot and some destruction, of course.

Quoting MCLegoboy ! I don't know, it seems very boxy. I feel like the legs are too chunky looking because they look like rectangles with minimal articulation. It seems like it is just a static thing that can't move, yet it's supposed to be a mech.
Well, when I built it, I was kind of going for a "boxy'ish" look. I agree the legs are pretty boxy, but the knee and feet joints can still move.

Well, overall it looks awesome, the bulky, muscular look really adds a really nice menacing feel. Though I will have to agree with McLegoboy, the legs are quite boxy... maybe some slopes or curved pieces could help with that.

I like how thick the legs are on this mech. So many battle mechs seem to have thin legs that don't have much armour, especially over the joints. The air intake is a very practical feature too. I also like the spalshes of colour which break up the grey, without being distracting. Great work!
