A working Technic clock, with minute and hour hand. Very dense with compact gearing using NXT.
About this creation
Working LEGO clocks have been done numerous times, but still it's interesting to design and build one yourself. This is my first attempt so far, which was focussed towards a compact size. In the future I'd like to make it work with a mechanical escapement instead of using a step motor and Mindstorms NXT...
Better to show it in action first! Sorry for the quality, but I'm no movie maker expert yet...
Very compact; just around 10 studs deep.
Modular structure for gear ratio minute/ hour hand and gearing down to seconds.
Hour and minute gearing.
Heart and base of the clock; from one rotation per hour to one every 4 seconds: 1 to 900!
Woah, it actually works correctly. I've seen one clock made with some real clock parts, and a clock made fully out of Lego elements, but it didn't keep time. This is the first full on purist clock I've seen that could be a real clock. Very impressive.
