On April 28th 2009, I joined MOCpages. This MOC shows what sort of things I have built since my last anniversary, and how they compare to my past builds.
About this creation
As I continue my High School career, I have had less and less time for my hobby. In 2012 I built the same number of creations that I would normally have built in a month in previous years. Although I don't have a lot of time in which to build, my passion for Lego has not wavered. I still view MOCpages and Flickr daily to view others' creations and I spend endless hours feeling Collectible Minifigure packets in the Lego Store every time a new series is released. I do not predict an increase in MOCs this year, but I hope to improve my skills when building those few that I will have time for.
My traditional anniversary picture has the usual red roman numeral and includes 4 figures, representing my 3 favourite themes (Star Wars, Collectible Minifigures and Pokemon), and my sig-fig.
My First MOC:
My first actual MOC was on from the TV series Lost. The photography was decent as I had a good camera, but the creation was sloppily built and wasn't very interesting.
After my first year, I started using SNOT building. SNOT building worked well in this example, but my other builds often ended up being rather dull and similar.
After 2 years of building, I had discovered and started using some more complicated SNOT methods and built some MOCs using tiles.
After 3 years and up to now, I combine SNOT building, greebles and sometimes even layered terrain in my builds. Most of my builds follow a backstory and they all have some action in them.
Clone Wars Episodes:
Since I have joined MOCpages, it has been my goal to create a MOC from each Star Wars the Clone Wars episode. With the TV show having ended this year with 108 episodes, I have completed my goal 19%. I struggle to find inspiration from some of the four part story arcs, but I will persevere.
At the beginning of 2011, I joined the 457th Corps RPG on Flickr. I participated in every mission and my sig-fig "CT-03-2011 - Chaser" featured in each build. I spent 2012 administrating the group and writing most of the mission objectives. After 1 year of missions, the group creator decided to close down the group. I reached the highest rank, major, in my last mission and I plan to continue my sig-fig's story on my own.
Lego's Collectible Minifigures theme is my second favourite theme. I have completed all 9 series and have started buildings scenes for each figure. They help to give my MOCs more variety because they are not only from one theme.
I plan to make some decaled custom minfigures in the future, but I am waiting until I have a proper printer before I use my waterslide paper. I occasionally try my hand at purist minifigures.
Over the past year I have completed 2 stopmotion movies, and posted 1 at Christmas time. I enjoy doing them, but I need some proper equipment before I will do them often.
I would just like to thank all of you hear on MOCpages who stuck through me this past year, and gave me suggestions on my MOCs when I eventually posted them. Thank you for the inspiration that I find in your own MOCs. The coming year will not be full of new MOCs from me, but I still plan to stay part of this online community.
