Equipped to respond to natural and man-made disasters, this powerhouse carries the tools and equipment that encompass the full spectrum in rescue and recovery: air and hydraulically-powered tools, winches and lifting tripods, shoring materials and cutting equipment.
Rescue rigs differ from other fire trucks in that they don't carry pumps, water tanks or extensive ladders. Instead, they are basically "giant toolboxes." Their crews are specially trained and the rigs are equipped for such situations as collapse rescue, trench rescue, confined space rescue, rope rescue and hazardous materials response.
