AEGAKS-118-MRd "Clarin"
"The Neural Trace system is a very powerful tool, but as with all weapons, it's a double edged sword. Let's hope we don't get cut by it." General Seino, petitioning the Provisional council to scrap the AEGAKS Project once again.
About this creation

The Clarin is actually the first Arkham prototype to be customized, even though the official first was Ryu's Mathril. The Clarin was initially outfitted with a different, and far more controversal, version of the Neural Trace System. Its pilot, Tsubaki, who has declined our interview today, is the only known pilot to be classified as blind.

While following the same basic structure as the other Arkham models, and as the rumored Mass Production Model soon to be released, the Clarin differs in three major aspects. First, it is the first model to be optimized for both close and long range fighting. As you can easily see, the Clarin is outfitted with not just a Type 38 Sub-machine gun, but also a shield and a pair of swords, as well as a shoulder mounted rocket launcher and smoke/grenade launchers on the shins.

Additionally, the Clarin features heavily modified and enhanced sensors, located on the back hardpoints. Additionally, the kinetic agility joints, the joint system that allows the AEGAKS to move, are different, slightly larger, and the frame is differed to accomadate this.

Mr Kenichi, head of the development project that created the AEGAKS which have been essential to hold the Drone hordes at bay, issued a statement on his decision to incorporate both long and close range combat style on a single unit.

"Any mass production model, should it be released, will need to be able to support a healthy dose of both close and long range combat. It will need to be able to handle multiple mission profiles, and to be durable and efficient in the field. As such, the Clarin is a strong step in that direction."

Another prime difference in the Clarin is the armored Pilot Block canopy. While retaining the iconic shape, it is not composed of armored transparent material. It was quoted at "being far more suitable for this unique model."

The final major difference is the Neural Trace System. As it was said earlier, the pilot, a young woman by the name of Tsubaki, is medically blind. This occured during the seige and fall of the Urban Sector, while the Sentai Province Army fought to evacuate civilians in large convoys. But one has to wonder how a blind woman could pilot such a machine.

As it turns out, Mr Kenichi has loaded the Clarin with a full Neural Trace System, the same system that is said to have killed three test pilots during the initial testing phase. Should any harm come to the unit's head, it could he disasterous for the pilot.

This has been a SPMA special report, and now to commercial.

CREATOR'S NOTES:

I don't have a fig for Tsubaki at this time, but hopefully, I'll be able to get one soon.

The Clarin actually uses the original armor I had intended for the Titan, though it ended being to light for that unit.

It's important to note the amount of danger that Tsubaki places herself in when she operates the Clarin. Because she is fully linked to the Clarin, she feels the full input from sensory data, such as sight, sound and even pain. Should the unit head be destroyed while she is linked, it could potentially fry her brain as it did the three test pilots mentioned above.

Hope you all enjoy!

Quoting ariklego ...The Director! A late response, I know (I haven't been on MOCpages much for a while). But I have to say this is exceptional work as usual. Is this your first AEGAKS unit to use neural link-type technology to control the vehicle?
No, this is the only unit to possess a full neural trace system. All others connect from the neck down due to the danger of neural feedback.

Hi, I'm new to the group. I'm just wondering, Is this group dead? I would really be interested in taking a part in this story/theme/idea, but I don't know why anyone is active. Is there an explanation? Obviously, I am interested in this design, and would look forward to using it in my own creations, some of which I have already posted.

Quoting Romany Woodhouse Nice mech - one day I'll build one that doesn't suck!
I'm sure you'll do well. Just find a groove the works for you and go with it.

Quoting Mike Johnson Good to see I'm not the only one coming back from a long hiatus (got a couple of projects I'm building but no photos yet). Your neural interface sounds like it came straight out of the Clans from Battletech, hint, hint! Nicely done.
Not quite. The Neural Trace System creates a direct connection to the pilot's body, allowing them to fully control it as if it were their own body. Though I've not played Battletech. Thanks for the comment!

Quoting CEO Camargo Good to see you're still alive and building! Awesome new unit, the head is gorgeous, my favorite part. The white canopy is unique: it's the same part used in another AEGAKS but looks way different! Keep building bro!
Yeah, since she's blind, she really doesn't need the clear canopy. And it gives it an armored look without changing the structure. Good to hear from you again!
