The Goddard Class Destroyer was commissioned in 2255 as the United Nations of Earth faced fiercer opposition in the Coalition war. After the really feckin' big ships of the Imperial Tarsin Fleet started to show up, the rapidly degrading situation called for a beefier, harder-hitting style of cruiser.
Though still small compared to your average Tarsin ship, the Goddard Class was not necessarily outclassed by the UNE's more familiar enemy - The Othaen Federation - who were the first race of the Coalition to launch in to an all-out conflict with Earth. It was ships like this that enabled Earth to actually push out in to Coalition territory and start beating the ever-loving cupcakes out of the Arkanin before the rest of the empire took notice.
Though primarily a warship, the Von Braun was outfitted with an external cargo bay for transportation of necessities to the front line worlds.
Can you tell I was running out of pieces when I got to the back?
Sensor arrays, missile exhaust vents on a delightful space background.
A great looking warship. I like the contrast between the smooth for and aft sections and the mid sections with its ribs and aerials. The engines on the side are a nice bit of greebling and I like how they come out from the ship.
