Weathertop - Amon Sūl
I hope you like my interpetation of the iconic battle from the first Lord of the Rings movie. The idea was not to build a very huge scene, but to build a all around perfect scene with a lot of interesting building techniques and a lot of details.
About this creation
The Weathertop

The Characters

The Surroundings

More Details

Once again i experimented a bit with GIMP, but i'm not sure.

Stay crętive!

This is amazing; I love how you aren't afraid to take risks when you're building. Your techniques have such a unique style and feel to them and the end result is always spectacular. The landscaping is beautiful and the structure itself has just the right texture to it.

I may be by myself in this opinion, but I think the rockwork looks loosely thrown around.

That's great.

As someone who once built a Weathertop model of my own, I know how difficult it can be to get the right shapes and feel to the model. You managed to fit some great elements into your build though. I especially like the stone floor of the tower and the curve you managed to build into the tower ruins. Lovely work all around though! I knew it was only a matter of time before someone would build a better mouse trap, so to say, and show my model up. It's an odd feeling. But it's neat to see someone take a stab at the same scene. Great job on your build! You certainly did this scene justice.

Quoting Tim C Wow. Great work. I like how you played a lot with sculpting the scene. Weathertop is shaped very well. The sculpting work gives it an ancient, weathered look, (if I may). The top definitely steals the show, though. I like how you pushed the capabilities of the brick with those tiles, and the work with GIMP is well done. I love that program. I like how you accentuated the fire pieces while darkening the surroundings. My only suggestion there would be to make another layer with just the fire pieces, duplicate it and place it over the original and use the Gaussian blur on the lower layer to create a glow around the fire. I'm not trying to take away from what you did do, though. It is an excellent touch.
Hi Tim, thanks for the positive feedback and this very long comment! I'm glad somebody likes this try. I'm a fan of GIMP too and edit all my pictures with it. But i'm very bad at editing. Thanks for the tips, maybe i can use them in the future. 'pard
