a rainy day...
Outside it rains and rains, oh and today it rains... So i was really boring. What can i do ? Mmmh ? After so many discussion why i built the USCSS Nostromo in black and not gray i decide to color the ship with the LDD extended and take a look what happens...
About this creation
Unfortunatley i have to say it really looks good. But this will never happen as long Lego don't produce some parts in gray (as the Baseplate for collectible Minifigures).

But did you know that they wanted to paint the ship first in yellow ;-) ?
see here

I also tried to make my own Display-sticker like a UCS Version

I hope you don't like it better as my original black version ... ;-)

Great model! The level of detail is excellent and the design is beautifully resolved. Keep up the good work!

Black suits better with the Alien-background! But in grey i could see some details, that are hard to be seen black in black...

Quoting Michal Hennel hello hello :D Really impressive ship ... have you also some pictures from interior? You are really skilled in joining bricks in very weird angles , as I seen in your Blacktron models. Its always fun to watch pioneers of some technique to refining it further. I wish you all the best to make even more impressive design , altough you have reached very high level already :D
Thank you very much for the kind words ;-) ! but there is no interior - for that the ship must be many times bigger...! But i did it also in real bricks if you want to check this out ;-) http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/348148

Hmm. On first thought, I'd say grey looks nicer, 'cause I can see the details and angles much more clearly. But after I thought about it a little more, I decided black actually works better. Grey makes this ship appear like an ordinary, massive spacecraft. But black... the black theme was what caught my eye immediately. Gives it a perfect, sleek, menacing feel. So, I say black my friend!

Of course, I prefer the real one than the ldd, but in grey we can see more details....and it is still a huge ship you made and it's always a plaisir to see it again !!! But I Think that you should make it for real in grey.....and in yellow..... ;-))

All the little piping and greeblie details come to life the the grey color, on the black they only hinted at their existence when the light caught them. Plus aliens are afraid of the color grey, clearly. They wouldn't have had all that fuss in a grey ship.

Actually, the only problem with black is photographing it (And, of course, keeping it clean!) The Nostromo needs to be black for one reason: It was the proverbial haunted house. Ridley (Yeah, were on a first name basis;)) resolved the issue of the characters just simply leaving the "house" by setting it in space. Alien was a pure horror movie just as SW was a pure Western. Who'd be afraid of a yellow Nostromo? So, even though details are more visible in the grey, sometimes you don't need to see all that. More nooks and crannies for our minds to fill with possibilities and Giger's "boogie men". Black!

Quoting Nick Barrett Actually, I do prefer the black one. Still great, though.
puuh... than i was right in my colourchoice ;-) At the last page where this was blocked ther aslo was the discussion about why did he do this in black ?? - i do this because i want this ;-) and i think it gives more the feeling of an "horror science fiction"...

Quoting David Alexander Smith It looks great, all the details pop in the alternative colour.
