Beer Belly Bot LDD
Lego doodle
About this creation
I finally managed to figure out how to use the cup and ball combination in LDD4. Previously I could select the parts, but they would not combine. I've used them previously once, to create the eye on VBTC but I really wanted to try to use it as a functional joint.

The limbs on this one can only really exist in LDD as those arms are probably not stiff enough to hold these poses, but as this was just a doodle I'm not concerned about that.

I may revisit the concept to give it better limbs later on, depends on whether I find time.

Interesting facts about this design you may not realise....

- The original idea was for this to be a monowheel design using the ball to travel on. The design was inspired by this character nanotron, in fact the arms still owe some inspiration to that design.

- The general shape, however, evolved into an indirect update of my original Spidebot concept

The neck was deliberately positioned where the chest should be. This was to give him a slight stoop. I've used this trick before and I think it adds character.

I don't often cheat by using "ready made" technic parts, like those feet, but I just wanted to see what it would look like.

Quoting matt rowntree I love this little guy! He looks like he could be either friend or foe, kinda jocular with a hint of "I just skewered your dog". The colors are reminiscent of a beer can, hope that was on purpose. I not only want to hear the click-click of him walking about, but also a good ol' hefty Barney belch. Fun design with spectacular NPU. Cheers!
[Barp] thanks :D

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist One of the neatest little mechs I've seen, not only is the colour blocking top-notch but there are tons of great shapes and techniques.
Thanks.

Quoting David Roberts There are lots of fun and cleverly made features to like on this little MOC. Brilliant beer belly, to start with! I also like the hands made from those hinge parts, the legs (which are a piece that I've never seen before) and the shape of the head. I'm not sure if the beast's head is that shape or if it is wearing a helmet of some form.
Thanks, the leg part is relatively new, I believe it was introduced to LDD when they added all the Hero Factory stuff. Is it a head or a hat? Erm... I have no idea :P

Quoting Yuri Fassio That's an awesome design! Very xenomorphic lol.
Yeah, I do like that extended cranium look.
