I think that energy is one sector that the US can really excel; the US is a really diverse country, in terms of geography. We have the technology, we have the land, why not save our selves from paying the unstable Middle East for oil?
About this creation
These two little MOCS represent a few alternatives to oil. On the left is a wind farm, and on the right we have a hydroelectric dam.
So we are jumping straight into the dam. High tension power cables!
Yes, the dam's wall needs a curved exterior, I know. Maybe a version 2.....
The substation and power facilities. You can see where the water has been released from the reservoir.
The secret is out. This is how I built the high-tension power lines. I just used a spool of string.
Some more of how that cable was made.
So here we have a wind farm. A small one, mind you. This was a much quicker build; I really wanted to include another "famous" source of energy.
Some miscellaneous substations and transformers.
Some miscellaneous substations and transformers. (again)
Thanks for watching!
I am considering another version of this MOC, with a solar farm, and possibly a curved dam. Maybe. I dunno.
wow! I m impressed, this is fab! congrats on stepping in the green wagon, have you seen my latest recycling plant? it s much better than my most popular, you did an awesome job on both structures, the dam especially, it s very modern and realistic, I see no problem of curves on it, a solar plant sounds great to me, we need more people like you! I m a trekkie too, let s go where no one has gone before! the future!
I like it

I can't decide which MOC I like the best, each has its own charm. I applaud you for choosing this topic, it is not explored often enough. You never know where the next great idea will come from.
I like the hydroelectric dam very much, and the substations on the wind farm. Totally agree with your thoughts on this subject we need to reduce our dependency on oil and gas etc. Oh thanks for your comment on my ‘Dog Fight’.
Awesome creation. But much more the question behind it: Why polluting the air when you can use such sstuff +solar energy? Perhaps you should ask this the big energy concerns and their lobbysts. You should add some counterparts of dirty coal and nuclear powerplants! :)
