All-Terrain Rocket Bike
Possibly the best way to zoom across a crater ever invented.
About this creation

The All-Terrain Rocket Bike was another attempt at producing a practical land vehicle from the prize-winning (Pan-Galactic Tiddlywinks Amateur Cup, 2234 A.F.) spaceship designers of Llwyngwril Space Systems. Its chunky tyres and powerful rocket motors allowed spacemen to blast across the lunar surface at high speeds.

The Rocket Bike was fuelled by special red rocket tanks, located under the chassis. This was twice as powerful as the grey fuel used on most Classic Space vehicles and caused the distinctive orange flames from the exhausts. Steering was achieved by swivelling the "cheese" treads of the front tyre. The 24 electric motors required needed constant servicing and replacement.

The high ground clearance necessitated yet another custom set of steps from Llwyngwril Ladder Systems. These ones had an electric motor to make moving them around easier.

Fourth Wall

I've been looking at, and playing with, the techniques that castle builders use to make curved walls and round towers. A rocket powered motorbike was therefore the obvious thing to build :)

Quoting Disco Chicken do you have any space police 1 MOCs?
Sorry, no Space Police here. It was just Classic Space when I was a kid and I'd moved on to Technic models before even Futuron or Blacktron was invented.

Quoting Disco Chicken How do you put captions in your MOC?
Thanks for the "Like"! Once you've loaded your photos, you should have a whole load of HTML code in the grey box which has "Add Photos" at its top left corner. Each paragraph is one of your photos. Just type your text in between each paragraph of HTML code. If you want to do more, like add colours, click on the "learn some simple HTML" link at the top righthand corner. Hope this helps!

Quoting Nils O. Wow, cool, that's so much fun, fun fun! And very clever techniques, of course! Great job! :-)) P.S.: It would be so cool to have that windscreen in trans-green colour ...
I totally agree: it would have been great to have a coloured version of the windscreen to use. I hadn't thought of trans-green but now you suggest it I like that idea!

Quoting Tris B Wildly impractical but the coolest things always are. Its just as well there are no hedgehogs/rabbits/children in its operating environment although I suppose the wheels would leave an interesting impression upon them.
A Classic Space hedgehog, now there's a thought!

Quoting David Alexander Smith Those treads are going to rip up the lunar surface something terrible.
Hmmm, I hadn't thought of the environmental impact :( There would be tracks and ruts all over the place, just like the Moelwyn mountains, near to where I live, which had a problem with people on motorbikes a few years ago.

Quoting matt rowntree Serious mud doggers there! I'd hate to be anywhere near the rooster tail produced by this bad boy. Great grip to say the least. Love the colors, too; classic.
Thank you! A face full of dust and rocket flames: windscreen wipers on your space suit might be the answer :)

Quoting Stuart Lucas You have to love those wheels! Great adaptation of that tred technique and really nice colourscheme too! I always knew that red makes things go faster.
Thank you! I think you're factually correct there: don't insurance companies have statistics that say that red cars do go faster and crash more? Fortunately there were no third parties on the moon, or much chance of theft, or much chance of fire without any air...

Quoting Tim C Super cool, David. I love how high off the ground the driver sits, and the coloring is a real eye-catcher. What really sets this thing off, (no surprise here), is the wheels. I love how rugged they look and you didn't just go with black or dk bley, you added some more color which raises the interest tenfold. Very well done.
It's great to see your comments back on MOCpages, thank you for commenting on this MOC! This was one of those builds where the parts available shaped the form of the model. I like a splash of colour, own very little dark bley and all my yellow is in the PHG & Wasp at moment. Time for some red :)

Quoting MCLegoboy ! I figured out how you made those wheels. What a great discovery Castle Builders! I've never seen that before. I tested it out, okay, not really, I had one tread to spare and I grabbed the first 1x3 plate I found, but I will not question the genius technique since I was able to get the two pieces to fit together. Cool bike. VROOOM!!!
You can do even more stuff with the bigger treads as they have holes for Technic pins in them. Castle builders make big holes for doors and windows too. I don't own any of that type of tread (yet!).
