About The MOC
This is the third incarnation of Melanthios I have created, the first being this, and the second version being this. Melanthios Version 3 is more of a direct evolution from the previous iteration of him. I wanted to take that basic idea and present it in a better manner, with better execution and more forethought into the designs. The second version was a fairly basic Hero Factory Build.
When comparing the two you will see many similarities, but also a few drastic changes.
  • He's still got the same color scheme, mostly gunmetal, dark gray and black where I had to use it.

  • Still has the shield, horns and hooves from before.

  • He lost his jump jets and the blue Hose though. I was initially going to keep them as I found they're a neat concept and feature on a "mountain goat man," but there wasn't really much room for them after I built the torso. Now that they're freed up I'm thinking I'll include this feature when I resurrect Melly's older brother, Atlas who will resemble something closer to both his original form and the Melanthios V1 form. More details about the two are down below in the Bio.

  • Melly now has Dreads pulled into a pony tail...thing. The inspiration for this kinda came as a result of building the torso the way I did, thinking it resembled a Football player a little, which made me think of how some football players with dreads pull them into a pony tail. This also filled in the gap I felt was left by his head. It felt like something should go there so I did dreads. If you're wondering, the dreads do rub a bit on the inside of the wheel, but its not really a problem, they don't get caught up in the wheel. In (hypothetical) reality he would just pull them to one side of his shoulder since they would be more flexible than the flex axles are.

  • He got an upgraded sword, but now only has one instead.

  • different mask as well. I didn't want to use the mask he had before as it was very tall. This also allowed me to use the Black Phantom(Voltix, Speeda Demon) mask, which I'm happy about.

  • Goatee. No satyr is complete without a :icongoateeplz: :D

Bio
Melanthios is the seventh member to be included into the The Defenders of Virtue after his brother Atlas was slain by Mototaur. Both brothers hail from a small desolate village that sits atop a canyon in the Southern Continent The village was mostly isolated, known only by its inhabitants and a few who had stumbled upon it but did not remain. It consisted of Po-Matoran that did not migrate to Spherus Magna that developed animal like features over the many years from traversing the cliffs and canyons of the area. Atlas was recruited by Archimedes for his incredible strength and capacity to store energy, even as a so called Matoran. As part of the agreement, Archimedes gave him a Toa Stone Transforming Atlas into a Toa of Stone with the unique characteristics of his people. Melanthios how ever was not given a Toa Stone by Archimedes after he reluctantly agreed to allow Malanthios to take the place of his fallen Brother. Melanthios uncovered the Toa Stone that was given to his brother and was able to use some residual energy left by Atlas to become a partial toa of Stone. This made Melanthios somewhat stronger and slightly larger than his Matoran form. It was this tactic that finally convinced Archimedes to accept Melanthios into the Defenders of Virtue. "Who am I to deny shear force of will, you did good."~Archimedes.

Melanthios obtained the first production model version of the Innenrrad from Kumignasi who had it being the creator of the first Innenrrad. The prototype was destroyed in the crash that almost killed Kumi and left him permanently disfigured. Melanthios soon learned to use The Innenrrad to his advantage and even incorporate it into his combat style He's a bit of a simpleton though and doesn't understand mechanics very much. When ever the Innenrrad is in need of repairs he consults Kumi or an Agori of the Ice tribe named Leebos to make the needed repairs and adjustments for him. This lack of knowledge in fixing his vehicle has left him stranded in the middle of nowhere on several occasions.

The shield Melanthios carries is a piece of armor retrieved from his bother Atlas' body. He uses sword and shield fighting techniques in combat, utilizing his strong digigraded legs to apply force in ramming attacks. He'll also employ the shield as a projectile, throwing it like a discus. His fighting is characterized as being very sporadic and unpredictable as he likes to leap around and dodge before making direct attacks. This emanates from his scouring of cliffs from his home region. This makes him ideal for dealing with smaller less stronger, but still dangerous opponents.

Quoting Gwain . I sincerely apologize. It was very rude of me to rate you a 4 out of 5, without realizing that you meant to build it that way. I have changed my rating to 5/5. I am very sorry. :(
Thank you for your apology but it wasn't necessary ^~^ A 4 out of 5 is a very good rating That's higher than I might have given the MOC, I woulda give it a solid 3.5 if I had to because I had to go back and redesign the head to better accommodate the neck so it didn't look so weird. The second digit on the legs could use some Gunmetal armor but I need to conserve what else I have for another planned MOC and I'm out of more HF gunmetal. So for those reasons I think a 5/5 is overstating things. But that's just my personal opinion on my own MOC. They say we're our own worst critics right? lol Again, thanks for your kind words, and your kind rating.

Quoting Night Reaper This is really cool! It looks a lot like the satyr, and I happen to think the skinnier legs look just right. Not sure I like the bike thingy though.
Thank you, finally someone gets it! He's a Satyr the legs are supposed to be super skinny in the lower parts. Thank you! As for the Innenrrad, to each their own, go check out its MOCpage or Deviation to get a better look at it. I updated the old MOCpage with the new photos. It sucks that MOCpages doesn't have a "update your followers about this Page" option like DA has. To be honest I don't even know how people keep track of their favorite builder's stuff here. There's no inbox or recent photo feed like DA or flickr, unless I'm just missing it. *shrugs* Thanks for the comments. :D

Quoting Gwain . I feel there should be a little more armor plating on the lower legs/feet. Overall design is full of Bionicle goodness. 4/5
That was done intentionally to keep the satyr kind of look. He's a buff goat man with goat legs which are skinny towards the bottom. Thank you. I'm happy with that rating. :D

Quoting Johann Dakitsch Wo-how, amazing! The vehicle is awesome, really cool design and execution. The pilot looks very nice, specially the head with the dreads, although I think the legs could be better and longer. Overall, excelent MOC! Very refreshing to see something like this once in a while...
Thanks Johann. I agree, the legs could be better, but they don't necessarily have to be. The skinniness of the shins with the tires on the HF bones was intentional though I wanted that part to be a lot skinnier compared to the thicker parts of the rest of the legs. I kept the length where I did because I didn't want him to be too tall. I wanted to keep him relatively short compared to other toa. Thanks again. :)

Quoting L.A. Miranda I love how you change the entire character of Melanthios keeping the satyr idea. Now looks epic, the color scheme is rare to see but really effective on this guy. The head is just awesome: hair, horns, goatee! One of the best haired heads I have seen. I find, however, some gaps on the lower arms that could be covered... About the Inerrad, I don't see many differences apart from the front (blades, lights) and the... peglegs, is the word? Well, I still find it awesome. Great job, my dear. Sorry for the 'short' comment, but I feel pretty weak today.
Thanks Lianyu, And that's alright, any feedback is appreciated. :D The front end of the Innenrrad got the most work, and over here, we call those kickstands, that got updated to. I'm glad you think melly here is one of the best haired MOCs, that's quite a compliment. I kept the lower limbs fairly simple because the shins needed to be skinny and I just wanted the one lower arm without the shield to match. I ran out of gunmetal HF armor to work with. What's on him now is all I had left. Thanks for the comment buddy. :D
