Toa Livanik
The Toa Xia of Acid.
About this creation
Livanik was once a Vortixx. A few years before the Great Cataclysm he left his homeland of Xia, tired of the political corruption typical to the Vortixx and searching for a better cause to align himself with. Impressively, he found out about the Order of Mata Nui; even more impressively, he managed to find their headquarters on Daxia. Upon arriving, he immediately requested membership.
As soon as he passed his final trial, the Order sent Livanik on his first mission, which he accomplished easily. He proudly served in the Order until about five hundred years after the Great Cataclysm on Metru Nui.
Then, on a particularly complex mission in the underground tunnels, he found a Kanohi mask. Unfamiliar with its design or powers, he brought it back to headquarters, where they identified it as a rare Kanohi Antios, a Mask of Cleansing. The Order members encouraged him to try it on.
When he did, it set off a reaction that turned his armor yellow and gave him elemental powers. Now effectively a Toa, he was honorably discharged from the Order of Mata Nui to find and fulfill his own destiny. Since then he has remained close allies with the Order, sometimes able as a Toa to act openly in ways they cannot.
The only regret Livanik has about being a Toa is that he is no longer officially an Order member. But he also enjoys his new powers. He is the Toa Xia of Acid, capable of firing globs of acid, poisoning a foe, or corroding almost any metal just by touching it. His scythe can even slice straight through Rhotuka spinners when charged. He still wears the Kanohi Antios that transformed him, which he can use to cure any being of any poison, or physically clean any surface. It also fortunately makes him immune to his own powers.
Livanik is unique in several ways. He was the only being ever to find Daxia without already being in the Order of Mata Nui, the only known Vortixx to have rejected his homeland, and the only Toa who was once something besides a Matoran. He is also the only living Toa of Acid, and the only being ever discharged from the Order alive.

Introducing...

Livanik!! (that's lee-VAHN-ik) I made him completely out of pieces from Roodaka and Keetongu because I thought the official combo model (the Shadowed One) looked pretty dumb.

Here he is looking at you and sticking his scythe in your face.

Here he is not paying any attention to you.

Detail shot of that scythe.

This meeting is only theoretical. Vakama was a Turaga long before Livanik ever became a Toa.

This actually happened. For a while Livanik lived in the abandoned Metru Nui. He and the Rahaga became friends; he and Gaaki are especially close.

His mask is highlighted. It doesn't cover his face like most Kanohi; instead, it wraps around the top of his head like a crown.

EDIT Sep 21, 2007: Okay, guys. I finally added the backstory, which explains why he doesn't look like a normal Toa. Sorry it took so long. And just for reference, Roodaka is a Vortixx.

An nearly perfect MOC. However, it does not look like a Toa, more of a good or bad titan type guy. It looks like Vezon hit Kotunga (or w/e his name is) with that big black and (green?) guy that controlled the visorak with the staff of fusion. Anyway, really great MOC, I look forward to seeing more from you. Ill be posting some big guys soon too.

it's a great build. my only complaints lie in that you're calling this moc. this is obviously NOT a toa, since it has no mask. also, the Shadowed one was a villain, not a hero. finnaly, the body shape looks more like Makuta than anything else. but, though the description is not very good, i have to give you 5/5 for the exelent apearance of thie model. great job.

Excellent job! His head looks awesome, kind of like a dog's head. I like the armor as well. Great job!
