Hakumen - The White Void
"I am the white void. I am the cold steel. I am the just sword! With blade in hand shall I reap the sins of this world, and cleanse it in the fires of destruction! I AM HAKUMEN! The end has come!" -Hakumen, BlazBlue
About this creation
Sidenote Pronunciation: HAH-koo-men

No backstory (for now at least) this time, going right into 4th wall.

As anybody with a good taste for games will have realised as soon as they read the title and intro, this MOC is a sort-of homage to Hakumen of the fighting game series BlazBlue. It's an awesome franchise and I would really recommend getting into it.
Now, just in case any part of this page causes some kind of legal issue, I'll provide a disclaimer.

All rights to "Hakumen" and the BlazBlue series are reserved by Arc System Works.

...Yeah, I thinks that's how you'd say it. Anyway, onto the MOC. Here's a 4-shot 360 and one birds-eye-view to start us off.

You'll notice some differences between the BlazBlue Hakumen and this MOC:

  1. There is a solid white main colour on the MOC, whereas Hakumen's colour scheme includes black.

  2. The MOC has white hair, whereas Hakumen's is grey.

  3. Different pauldrons

  4. Different horns on mask

  5. The MOC sports dual blades (which can be combined into a bow-shaped double-ended sword), whereas Hakumen brandishes Ookami, a long sword.

  6. And obviously, one's LEGO and one's not. XD

Now, on that note, let's begin the analysis, from the bottom and upwards.

Legs
The legs here are probably my favourite part of this MOC, next to the head. They're just so. freakin'. AWESOME.

As you can see, they're structured with bigger thighs and thinner shins and unarmoured ankles, an attempt at the structure of Ninja/Samurai legs, the pants tucked into the boots, giving the upper legs a blown-up look due to the space between a person's flesh and the material. That's probably too long a description as many of you will know exactly what I'm talking about regardless, but hey, what can I do? :3
I just utterly love how well they ended out. They're just perfect, both with the rest of the MOC and in their own right. I'd definitely use this leg design again, if I saw fit.

It's one downside -well, it's more of a peculiar quirk than a downside, but I'm, trying not to glorify anything here- is that when the legs are bent, the "knee" is very long, because the lower leg is connected behind where the thing is connected to the hips.
That aside, these legs are sturdy, poseable and fully articulated, with the standard three points of articulation (thigh, knee and ankle) working to the full, although the thigh movement is slightly hindered by the white fangs/nails at the top.

Chest
This chest design, as you can see, is custom, incorporating the use of both BIONICLE and Hero Factory parts. It's very shapely, in my opinion, fitting perfectly with the rest of the MOC. I've been trying to find a use for the Witch Doctor chestplate, and this was the prefect time. The titan Takanuva claws come in handly yet again, this time as intimidating pauldrons lowing over the MOC's bare shoulder joints. Lookin' good, Haku. B)
It took way longer to build than any other part of the MOC, but, taking into consideration my more formidable foes, such as Mourne's leg design, and Ariszek's overall design (it's a body structure by another MOCist that I had to look at Brickshelf pics of for hours to design, as there was no how-to, and even then I still had to make my own foot design. But that's a story for another time.), it wasn't too challenging a task.

One thing I have to say about this chest, is that the greeble (I hope I used that correctly, I've never said greeble before :3) around the neck and the white HF plates (the little holes on them are filled by white quaza cores on the underside, sorry I didn't get a pic of that ;D) is something I'm pretty proud of, as a MOCer who, to his knowledge, has never "greebled" a MOC before. Overall, this chest is pretty cool, if I do say so myself. ^_^

Arms
The arms are the least impressionable, least aesthetically grabbing and my least favourite part of this MOC. But, that in now way means that they don't deserve their own section. They are still important. Obviously. What use would a ninja/samurai/Toa/person/thing be without arms?

I'm not going to say much. The design is simple and the lower arms are pure HF and the hands are just Glatorian fists. They look nice enough, but they're not amazing. Also, the upper arms aren't very moveable; they're obstructed by the shoulder pads. Nothing much to see. I'd use this design again, but only if I couldn't use anything else, or if I was feeling lazy.

Head
Now, this is where my enthusiasm can be poured out in the fullest.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS HEAD!
I wanted a head that looked as similar to Hakumen's as possible, and I really pulled it off with this. This design is really great, with amazing hair, I mean amazing. It's so poseable: it's got three 360-degree points of articulation just by itself! Perhaps that's not a big deal to the more skilled MOCers out there, but seeing as every other MOC I've made with hair has no articulation in said hair, for me, this is revolutionary, LOL.

As you can see, it looks great. Really anime-esque, especially in terms of the hair poseability. Also, I've spent ages trying to find a neat way to use the Witch Doctor skulls, and it goes really well here.
Overall, this is my absolute favourite part of this MOC (followed closely by the legs), and I'm extremely chuffed with this head.

Weapons
Not much to say here. This guy's weapons are a set of dual blades that can be combined into a bow-shaped sword.

That's it for this MOC, guys. I hope you liked it. Please give feedback below!

Quoting L.A. Miranda LOL, the Terumi name made me laugh xD Will be inspired in Hazama or in the next DLC?
Well, both, I suppose, since they're the same guy, but yeah, more the DLC than Hazama. It won't really look anything like either of them though, it's just the name, and maybe the weapons and persona that'll be the homage.

Quoting Clever Crowe See here, THIS is what happens when you commit well to a color theme. There is an impression of ivory-aged bone extrusions, all over. I can see the clear amount of work you've put into the Build's backstory and physical mechanics O.D.; very good results overall. A few faves - the spiked 'crests' fanning out over the shoulders, clearly good flexibility at major brachials, the Custom head, and even limb proportions. Cheers!
Thanks! ^o^ As I said with L.A, this means a lot coming from you. What are "brachials" and what is "O.D", though? ":] Thanks for the feedback, hope to see you around on my upcoming stuff! By the way, is Masamun'ael's story finished, or is there more to come still? ^_^

Quoting L.A. Miranda You... You... You deserve a medal. Seriously! NoWhereMan (Cheesy Q) and I tried to get something like this months ago! This is indeed a great tribute of one of the most awesome knights ever seen. I really like how you designed the legs and the head, and the vibe this MOC has reminds me of the original. If you get some parts, I think you can make this MOC evolve into a perfect copy of Haku. For example, the thighs components are available on black, and the Ninjago katana part can be use for a nice version of Ookami. However, it's better than anything that I could have made! Great job, my dear. You get five smiles and a fav'd.
Aww! Thanks so much!! These kind words mean a lot coming from you! Yeah, Hakumen is definitely awesome. I get what you mean about the Ninjago katana thing. I might go and look on Bricklink for that piece alone, or buy the appropriate set if I have to. I was thinking the same thing when building. Nice to know I'm not the only BlazBlue fan around! ^^ On that note, I've got two ideas ready for the weekend, when my exams are over; an Android-AI-thingy called T.E.R.U.M.I (Terribly Enigmatic Realistic Userbase designed for Maiming and Injuring) and my interpretation of the Metroid series' infamous Ridley (I'll be attempting to make the GameCube version of Meta Ridley, if I can find the parts). Hope to see you there! ^_^
