(V2!) Tallix: The Metal Knight
(updated pics of) A toa of metal made for the Bio-cup 2013 Eliminatory round!
About this creation
Tallix was born a toa, in fact one of the very first. He was also one of the first to join the Order of Mata-nui. He was assigned to watch over the area around Metru-nui. He was the type of toa that all matoran dreamed to be. He was bold, courageous, chivalrous, and kind. He was very well liked by his fellow toa and the matoran he protected. He was also very in touch with his power over metal.

He quickly rose through the ranks of the order, gaining more and more responsibility. He was assigned multiple teams of toa to lead, but he had never been good at leading and planning. He was a quick thinker though, and as such was successful with his teams at first. He also had regular dealings with the Makuta of Metru-nui, but even in Tallix’s time the makuta was planning evil. The makuta realized that in order for his plan to work he needed to get rid of Tallix, who had begun to notice the Makuta’s odd behavior. The Makuta began to throw more and more difficult obstacles in Tallix’s way. Whether it was a dangerous rahi, criminals, or Dark Hunters, Tallix was always able to overcome all.

The Makuta found this all rather amusing, but his patience had ended. He set forth a terrible rahi in Ko-metru. It captured several matoran. Tallix’s teams were quickly dispatched to deal with the rahi. It had made a nest up on the top of a tall building. It seemed too easy to Tallix. He cautiously sent a toa up to see what was happening on the roof. The toa returned, saying it wasn’t in its nest. The teams scaled the building.

At the top they found a large nest with three matoran. Suddenly hundreds of rahi flew in the air from the other roofs. “Retreat!” yelled Tallix. The toa tried to climb down the building, which was disastrous. The toa and matoran were easy picking for the flying rahi. By the time they reached the ground more than half the toa had been captured by the rahi, who were fighting over their prizes. Tallix used his power over metal to make a spire that carried him to the roof. There he crushed every last rahi in an amazing display of elemental power. He saved all the toa but three.

He returned to the ground, welcomed as a hero. He was crushed by the near disaster of his leadership. He started becoming more and more distraught. One day he disappeared, his fellow toa thought he had went on a journey somewhere, as a break from his duties, but the Makuta of Metru-nui knew otherwise…
To be continued…

Running... or something. XD

OK, I love how this guy turned out! Always wanted to use that mask. Not much else to say... Wish me luck! :D

Alright updated with V2! I took all the suggestions I got... Slightly bulkier torso for Chro... Shortened torso.... and new feet for LA! Hope you like it! I really like the "armored boot" foot design I came up with for him, so here's a few pics.

Good color scheme and head choice. Its well built, but the proportions are a bit off. Torso is too long and thin, specially in contrast with the legs, wich look overly bulky that way. All-in-all, a 7.

Well done! This is certainly a very good MoC, though what prevents you from getting more than an 8 with me are the abnormaly large shins and weirdly tall feet, they honestly look too big for him. I think that for this creation of yours a play with the proportions is indeed good, but I believe you went overboard with it. Still, a fine entry!

Quoting Monarth GS This is a fine dandy work of playing with proportions, I love the bulky look mixed with a slender structure, it works well here, however the nuva chests make the shins feel perhaps a bit too bulky. The colors are quite imposing, the red adds a surprisingly sharp contrast that looks excellent. This is a well-deserved 9 points.
Thanks Monarth! I see what you mean about the nuva pieces, the legs were originally a little longer. I really agree about the color scheme, I've seen very few MOCs using it. My mom actually gave me the idea. When I asked her what colors went well together she said "dark red and silver". So that's what I did. :)

Already rated, but I just realized how awesome the blue head piece looks under that visor. I'll have to use that sometime. :D

Quoting Clever Crowe That... is a superb helm fit, for this MOC's theme. Also sweet compound-armor for those shoulder deltoids and craggy-curvy-chunky silhouette, overall. Striking colorset, good custom work overall. He really wants articulated fingers, man - he told me so when I put my ear to the screen... NICE job. 8 points, and Cheers!
Thanks a ton! Man, you have no idea how much I thought about adding fingers. It would make the arms too long though. Thanks! :)

Quoting Yuri Fassio Outstanding entry. Imposing design and excellent technique. The picture are so crisp it looks like high-grade CGI. You'll have to teach your secret for cropping MOCs so perfectly. 9 points.
Wow! Thanks Yuri! The pictures are actually pretty easy, I just take pictures with two white poster boards (with a strip of paper covering up the gap where they meet). Then I turn up the brightness until the background looks perfectly white on a simple photo editing software. Lastly I use an auto-color function to make the MOC visible in the brightness. :)

Quoting L.A. Miranda Well, next time I should keep my mouth closed so I don't destroy my chances of winning something. Now is perfect, I think this is the first time somebody follows an advice of mine. Thanks, I'll guess! xD Love those feet! I always wanted to use the HF 1.0 feet in a similar way, but never managed to get something good.
Ha, ha, you give good advice. XD. I'm glad I waited to lock it in, but I think I'll lock him in now. Yeah, I love how the feet look like armored, metal boots. Thanks! :)

Quoting Yuri Fassio May I suggest you break down that huge wall of text and redistribute it throughout the page, before locking the entry? People's attention span is so short that not many of them will want to actually read all that together.
Sure! Great idea! Thanks Yuri! I also plan to update with a few pictures of a second version. :)

Quoting L.A. Miranda The fact that the HF foot sticks out, makes the foot wider... =/ Depending on the MOC, looks good, but in this case... Well, it's my opinion.

Quoting L.A. Miranda I also like the contrast between waist and the rest of the body, it fits very well with the increasing width of the legs or the torso, giving him a mecha-look proper from anime. Shoulders are by far my favourite part, though I really like the head and the knifes too. But those feet... =/ Also, he looks too big. Are you sure he doesn't surpase the 25 cm limit? Well, apart from my probably failed attempts of making you be disqualificated, great job, dear =3
Thanks! I also love the shoulders. I really like the feet, I use that design a lot. What don't you like about it? Nope, he's exactly 24.5 cm. I'll post a picture with a ruler. :)

Quoting [ Chro ] Looks awesome, but the midsection is way too thin for armor that bulky...
