LOM: MRC: Escape
Zimmerale could sense something wasn't right about the information he had received just before reaching Heartfire inn. An artifact known as the Horn of Theopneustos. This horn could easily turn the tide of battle by inspiring those who fight beside the owner to fight with an incredible vigor. As a matter of fact he was gonna ignore it completely until the two of the outlaws he was sharing camp with and who had told the tale turned up dead the next morning. This diversion would only cost him two days and he was well ahead of schedule, so he made his way based on their descriptions towards this fallen shrine. It wasn't til after the third landmark that Zimmerale was certain it was a trap. Each landmark had been described in such detail and usually these weren't exact, this wasn't the case with the outlaws descriptions. Each detail matched 100%. He decided that he had already committed half a days ride to this, he might as well spring the trap and see if there is any truth to horn ever being there.
About this creation

^ The journey across the snowy dunes of Bodus were actually quite lovely it had been some time since Zimmerale had been this way. The sun was setting as he came across the last landmark described to him by the now recently departed outlaws. It did seem incredible that both of them died by snake bite that same night. He helped bury the bodies and said a few words to help them on their new journey. He snapped out of his daydreaming once a small series of makeshift huts came into view under the moonlight. It appears he had arrived. The huts seemed to be made of pieces of some stone roof and columns. Then he saw something that stopped him in his tracks...a statue. Actually several statues all very life like and seemingly frozen in terror where they stood. The ruins of the temple where up ahead, just a few columns a some shards of wall stood. He dismounted and grabbed Durindana and a torch, electing to leave his shield behind it would be little use for what he was about to face...well actually hopefully not face.

^ He passed through the archway it appears he was expected, two torches were lit on opposite pillars, but no foul creature was in sight. He was careful to just use his peripheral vision to scan the room. These ruins had a distinct smell that of cucumbers mixed with skunk. Little flecks of scales littered the ruin floor. He could sense he was being watched but dare not look around too carelessly.

^ A few more victims frozen in time stood were scattered within the ruins, perhaps from the old aberration crusade. Or perhaps just more victims lured here by the promise of an artifact, either way they had failed where he planned to succeed. This statue caught his eye it seemed to be a witch or wizard but more importantly they had come prepared...

^ ...the smell grew stronger and interrupted his train of thought. He stood up straight, careful to use his other senses rather than relying upon his sight. His predator had made one mistake, it had underestimate him. He could hear low hisses coming from his left. He would give it the first strike. It didn't take it long to oblige him. It stuck quickly flicking its tail and knocking not only his torch but Durindana from his hand...

^ ... He took that opportunity to make a break for the statue of the wizard mindful to round the pillar in case the medusa was armed. He could hear it hissing with pleasure at his disarmament and was most likely waiting for him to look upon it for the first and last time. He had no plans to give it that pleasure, he snatched up the speculum and held it within plain view of the medussa. He could hear her shriek and he knew that it would be her, not him, that would be joining this temple permanently.

^ The sight of her reflection had caught her off guard...

^ ...and its deadly ramifications already apparent in her hands that she had thrown up defensively. They had turned to stone with the rest of her body to follow. Zimmerale could find no evidence the horn had ever been there, but on the bright side he did remove a great threat to himself and those who followed him. Plus he did get a consultation prize a speculum, and this one seemed to be enchanted.
