Fantastic, David. Love what you've done with the place;) The people set this so firmly in the famous fairy tale that it's ummistakable once you see it. Nice work on the tree, adding a bit of horror to a scene that also has a house made of candy. I also like how you set up the house. The bright colors and the use of the round bricks give this the whimsical appearance that I've always pictured when I think of the story. Great work, as always, David.

Iconic, classic, artistic, everything done right and not too much of it. Well struck and cheers!

Thanks Nick, fairy stories are intriguing things, and great inspiration for MOCs.

Quoting Ru Corder Niiice. Great job replicating the eastern European folk art look.
Thanks Ru; I'm enjoying researching some world art forms as inspiration at the moment. Maybe Russian next!

Quoting Starscream Soundwave Sinister, just as it should be.
It is potentially the most unsettling kids story out there.

Quoting Achintya Prasad Ha ha, good work! I can't say this is my favorite of the series; I feel that the story would yield more green than black, but really, other than that, a solid 5/5
You might be right; another excuse to visit Bricklink.

Quoting Jared . Nice! This story used to give me nightmares as a kid... my dad would always tell it the Brother's Grimm way...
The Grimm version is the real deal - shudder.

Quoting Topsy Creatori (StoveTopCreator!) Wow, Bavarian quaintness in brick! :)
Bavarian was the aim. Quaint and scary sit very close together sometimes.

Quoting matt rowntree This is one of my favorites. The witch and the children are great, but that house is absolutely fantastic. The colors make it so inviting, but the negative spaces look like a face ready to eat you up. Happy yet menacing. And, just as evil as the witch. Excellent!
The face was very much intended.

Quoting David Roberts I like how the house has the style of a decorated cake, though I'm not sure about black for the icing/cake. I realise that it has to fit into the scheme for the series. I suppose that it's a Black Forest gateau (appropriately!), rather than gingerbread. I love the posing of the two children. Their arms in front of them gives the impression of sleepwalkers, as though the witch has enchanted the children and is drawing them into her house. A super series, with each one a new direction and a nice surprise in in my e-mail inbox :)
It's dark chocolate actually, but you know anything for aesthetic ends.
