Lockheed TF104G Starfighter Trainer-fighter
About this creation
In 1979 I joined the Royal Danish Airforce.
In 1980 I was stationed at Airstation Ålborg, and trained as a radar-technician, servicing the two F104 squadrons ESK 723 and ESK 726.
So of cource i had to build a model of the 104. I chose to build the 2-seat version TF104G, which I think looks great, with the large canopy.

The Danish F104 came with two colour-schemes. The first ones were silver, and later they were painted dark-green.

To make it silver was not an option, but dark-greeen wasn't easy too.
Dark-green is quite a rare colour, and a lot of bricks don't exist in that colour, and in addition it is expensive.

But now it is here, and yes, a lot of pieces have been painted,

Hope you enjoy the result.

Quoting jim mcdonough exellent work yet again, your attention to detail as always.sometimes you have to compromise on pieces and resort to painting them,by no means does this make a build less than what it should be,i painted around 5000 for the deck on the missouri,5/5
Thank you Jim! Painting of Lego bricks is not for purists, but I try to limit the scope as it is also quite time consuming. Another problem is that sometimes it's hard to match the color exactly. You have done a great paintingjob with the Missouri, because if you had not told it, there was probably no one who had discovered it.

Quoting Steffen Kasteleiner An instant favorite. The shape is very well achieved on your 'Widow Maker'. You probably know about its notorious reputation, right? Anyways, a great looking model. Best regards, Steffen
Thank you! Yes I know about it, loosing engine power is catastrophic to a plane with such small wings.

i tried to make an f 104 once, but it was taking too long, and i didn't want to destroy my f-102 for parts, so i quit the project. Best f-104 on mocpages though!

Quoting Marty Fields The "G" was the ultimate Starfighter. Great to know you actually worked with them!
Thank you for commenting on my jet-fighters. I worked at the squadrons for 4 years, later I was transfered to a SAM-Group, with IHAWK missiles,(and that was before IPHONE :-D ) so maybe it could inspire to some millitary builds.

A truly great plane, and one I'm not families with ether. I like all the weapons you have, the look nice. The shaping is so smooth, I often have trouble getting my stuff that rounded. I have no problems with you painting the bricks, it looks good. My philosophy is if you are going to pain LEGO, do it right, which is why I don't do it. "Oops, I filled in the tubes on the bottom with paint!" :D

Quoting john lamarck Interesting F-104. Some transitions could be smoother (have a look at mine, but I think you already did it). I like the color. ----- You're absolutely right about the thickness of the wings for my Starfighter. I made that choice because I wanted it: 1) studless 2) the right shape : wing leading edge angle is different from wing trailing edge angle. Your choice with the same wedge plates for both leads to a wrong angle shape for the wings leading edge. http://hpics.li/87ac220
lego construction is often the difficult art of compromises. You make a choice, and see if the outcome suits what you like. The link, is that your private picture source?

Quoting Kevin Bennett I thought of building a Starfighter, and cant seem to get the planing stage right. Yours is very well done. Love the nose, canopy, and drop tanks. Well done!
My starting point is always to get the measures right. So when I have chosen the scale for the build, I set up the measures in LDD and start to build.
