Gemini
To continue my astrological series, the Third House of the Zodiac: Gemini. Also, my entry to the "Battle of the Judges" special round of the Bio-Cup.
About this creation

Gemini, in greek Mythology, represents the famous brothers Castor and Pollux. Being immortal, Pollux was devastated when his mortal brother died, begging the gods to grant Castor the same gift. Zeus, acknowledging the heroism of both brothers, consented and reunited the pair in the heavens. Gemini's element is Air.

4th Wall Novel: So, here goes Gemini. Conceptually, I think this one was the hardest so far. Since the beginning I thought of the idea of representing Gemini as twin brothers connected together somehow. How to make that connection, however, was the mistery. In the end, I came up of this idea of a 'skirt', melding them togetehr in a way you don't know wich part belongs to whom.

Since I made myself obliged to use the sign's actual representing color (in this case, yellow), I was afraid it would look too bright and 'happy' for this series. I think in the end it turned out alright, considering I kept it a little more subtle (also because I pretty much ran out of yellow armor parts). I chose the light gren adn blue transparent pieces as the representantion of Air on this because these were the only colors I had in trans that reminded it the best, at least for me. This might cause me trouble when making Water or Earth signs, but I'll leave that tought to later... The gunmetal, as always, makes the 'crown' accent, but this time I spread it more across the body, mainly to match the fingers (its the only colors I have for those), but also to give it sme differentiation. Couldn't make it to the staffs, but I never stablished any rules for the weapons, so whatever...

Also, rather than making a 'holy overlord of customness' kinda MOC, I kept the build to as simple as its necessary, to make the twisted design stand out more. Actually, if you look closer, the only really simple parts of this are the arms, since all the rest required a bit of puzzle-solving on their own. Even the legs/skirt/stuff. Specially that, actually.

But anyway, this is it, folks. Hope you enjoyed the build and the ride! See you around!

I like the concept of it And the originality of it. Im not just fond of the lower body though.

Well, I expected this MOC would trigger split reactions, not only due to the "hey, its not a Toa" design, but mainly because of the 'humanoid or not' question, wich I think kinda makes for a nice 'what makes something a humanoid' debate. Maybe that was the intention? Who knows... ;) As for the 'simple' factor, its not so simple as you might think. As a matter of fact, the only thing I consider simple in this are the arms, the rest took quite some time to come out with. Even the skirt. If I remove that tire you would see a lot of ugly technic bits in there, but I chose for a cleaner, more compact design. Looks better. Like I have stated before somewhere, I'm not one of 'customness just for the sake of customness', I think its must be there to serve the design, rather than the opposite. Theres a huge difference between looking clean and being simple-built. But meh, its expected. How many times have we not seen a basic Inika build overgreebled to death and everyone praising it for being 'such a complex build'? As for originality, its pretty relative, I guess. Maybe you have seen something similar before, maybe you haven't. I haven't, but well, can't do anything about it :P Now, just one other thing: why the problem with using Hero Factory? Limited? Have you tried it? To me, HF is actually more open to possibilities than a lot of Bionicle, you're just sounding like those system AFOLs who go "uh, Bionicle is bad, you can't do anything with it". Not that we work very hard to prove otherwise, but anyway... Think about it, folks...

Quoting Taile of the verdent pyre... only 3 points due to three things, 1 not an original character, 2 not at all humanoid, 3 the way they are fused is uncreative and doesn't look good. Other than those three things great moc, but not a good entry.
I can't (nor want to) do anything about the other points, but "not an original character"? Why exactly? Because its based on a pre-existing concept? Well, in that case, I guess none of the entries would ever be valid, or would you say "Toa of Fire", "Cyborg Warrior" or "Cursed Hero" are original concepts?

Well, well, well... I remember to have stated already on a converstation of the group that Gemini doesn't look very humanoid, and I still defend that. So, due to that, I wouldn't valid this entry, but since everyone has accepted it, I have to judge it anyways. Humanoid look aside, the MOC itself is interesting, specially for the concept and the limitation on Hf parts, I think you made a good job. I really like how they look from the waist up, identical but with a contrast achieved with the heartlights and the eyes (well, the shoulders too, though I don't think that was needed it doesn't affect too much, I suppose it was for parts shortage). Weapons look nice too, I like their design. From the waist down, though... I think that those gaps could have been covered with gunmetal/black/yellow HF torso plates. It's not that bad, specially after thinking about the Uroboros concept (which I think it works nice for Gemini), but could have been better. 7 points, due to the lack of humanoid look. Like Tayle said: not the best option for an entry, but a good MOC anyways. =3

Hmmm. I like it a lot. It' definitely an original creation, seeing as this zodiac line is kinda your thing, and the non-humanoid aspect of it is interesting. If I had done it, I would have given it a tripod, or a mermaid-type tail or something. a round base is kinda odd, and I can't see a fixed position benefiting a creature that can't use it's full potential fighting in only one direction. Maybe if it were sideways or something... anyways, I like the concept, but the build is simple. I'm gonna flip a coin. Just kidding, I wouldn't do that to you. 7/10.

I don't know man, the Idea is nice but the execution just comes off too simple. It feels like a set TLG would release and that just won't do. 6 points from me.

I love this moc however when it comes to originality it's decant, now before you yell at me let me just say that the kh2 did somewhat of the same idea, the two brothers i love the moc but i like that its so simple 8/10

To be honest, it's just kind of... strange. It's a cool idea, but the build is rather lacking, and quite simple. In the end, I'll give this a 5/10.

I stumbled across an artist on DeviantArt today who's done a few works based off the Greek gods/zodiac in a similar style to you. Drawn, of course, but you should definitely take a look :) http://undeadkitty13.deviantart.com/gallery/

I really like this moc. The heads and torsos are my favorite parts. I also like the simple, but effective weapons. However, I don't know much about the Zodiac circle, so if they WERE humanoid like Steve The Squid said, then I would have personally done it different. I would have made 2 humanoids connected to this ball and chain type system. And in the "ball" part, have both trans colors mix. As for the "Chain" simple HF can be done there. Overall I like the moc. Good luck in this round!

Quoting Chopperskull (Jon Z) I don't mean to be critical, but I am a Gemini after all... I'm not a huge fan of how they are connected. I mean, it works but it doesn't really look all that great. I think maybe you should have made a snake like tail of tangled limbs or something more creative.. Well, that's my only complaint ! :D I think the head and upper body's are awesome, and the idea of the chest light being different for both guys and those staff like weapons work really well for them. the colors are unexpected for the air element, but hey, it's awesome ! 4.5/5 (I'll just rate it a 5)
Well, thanks! The snake thing was the original idea, atually, but ended looking too messy. I think the tire may be the thing hat gets in the way of this, but its kinda necessary to cover up some ugly technic bits.

Quoting Yuri Fassio Twins conjoined via diaper! That's brilliant! Jokes aside, I love everything about this except maybe it has too many colors. Well done and good luck!
Hahaha, I can't unsee that now...

I can't say I'm a fan of this; its simplicity reminds me of people's XT-4 combo builds. The heads are nice. The 'base' is overly simple, and I'm not sure what it's supposed to represent, since the twins were humanoid... To me, this is a simple HF build with an original concept holding it together, which I don't think is enough, and doesn't live up to your standards D: Since I'm giving the judges a hard time about it, this moc doesn't really have any play value, and the lower part eliminates most of the movement of traditional mocs. I have to give this a 4/10.

Great work here. I love the tire connection for them. This is beautiful. Whatever I was expecting, it was not this. If there is one thing I could suggest, it would be to give him a little more armor on his biceps. Still, overall, nice job. Take these 7 points and have fun with them.

I quite like this. It's very nice, and cleverly built too. Not quite humanoid, so that looses you a few points. But I like it overall. The clever incorporation of the metru heads, and the tire, are particularly catching. 8 points!

Quoting Berial .
