!! 20/05/13 Update will come in the next weekS!
Here is my last creation: a Volkswagen Type 2 T1 Bulli Samba Hippie Bus ... Van with working engine, steering and homemade gearbox
About this creation
Here is my VW van, also called the Volkswagon VW type 2 T1 Bulli 21 windows 23 windows pick up double cabin panelvan transporter Rugbrød Barndoor microbus splitscreen split-window splitties Junakeula Osztott ablakos Papuga hippie samba bus or for me just "dreamcar".
If you search in my Lego archive, you will find an old (and crap) Volkswagen Van I made 7 years ago (something like that). Because it was so crap and because I LOVE this vehicle I decided to build a new one (and because I am too lazy to buy the one from Lego).
On the technical part:
> working 2 cylinder boxer engine
> connected to a new and improved 4 speed manual gearbox (homemade) which is connected to a rear wheel
> + a working steering
It is on my point of view not a very difficult car to build. I worked a lot on the front mask and the "V" to find a perfect curve (on my old van the "V" was not perfect).
The back is very simple and so very realistic (in my point of view).
I tried to make the 21 windows of the real one, and if you count the little windows between the doors and the windscreen, we have it.
The interior: it is very simple too, and I tried to make it realistic, but not too much: 2 "large seats" (I don't know how to call it, may be benches), a steering wheel, a gear lever, a dashboard, and it’s in fact all
So thank you for watching and please rate and comment!
Here with doors open
The boxer engine in the back end : a 2 cylinder working one
Like this picture...
Here the interior: I only made 2 benches because I ran out of bricks...
Now comes a big work: the gearbox
You can see here the engine and the 4 speed gearbox, and the connection between them. The two outside axes move to change gears
And here the mechanism to change gear. The structure between the axes is connected to the gear lever
That's cool, very well shaped and with some cool Technic stuff inside. The front could need a little rework, but only the corners in front of the wheels and the windscreen which is a little too round (the original had flat glass sheets, there). The rest is awesome. Well done (4/5) :-))
