I don't really know much of the origins of these cars, but they look pretty cool and have been a popular choice for being converted to hotrods.
About this creation
It was a nice and sunny day here so I took my photos outside. Low - mid 20s (that's celcius) in the middle of winter? That's how we do things here in Aus.

The top and rear being in black had nothing to do with me running out of yellow tiles and wheel arches..... ok it had everything to do with that. Plus I think it looks alright! I saw a real one on google with a similar paint job: http://www.remarkablecars.com/main/ford/ford-00199.html

Bigger wheels on the rear. I wanted the wheel arches to almost hug the wheels, just like the real ones do. It would have been so much easier to leave it as open wheels!

Suicide doors which open right up. When closed they are also angled, giving that wider at the rear look to the car.

I am happy with how the radiator grille turned out. It almost looks curved like the real ones. Here you can see the V8 just peeking up behind it. Also, headlights! kachow!

The rear wheel arch. With extra archiness.

Exhaust tips sticking out from the rear. Flames are optional.

Driver side door open. Suicide style.
Due to the size of the engine block, as well as the tight spacing of the front wheel arches, I couldn't add much detail to the engine. I tried putting in some piping using various methods, but failed. So much fail. Again, would have been so much easier with open wheels. Oh well.

Pretty plain interior. Not much too it. A chair barely big enough for two, a steering wheel and some guages. Left-hand drive since it's an American car.

Overall I am pretty happy with how this turned out. I even managed to finish it without having to pull any other models apart or make anymore bricklink orders. Hooray!

Thanks for looking. Higher res images are on my flickr page:

A cool looking Hot Rod Sam! The grill's a little heavy-looking but otherwise it's nice all-round; good bodywork, engine and interior : ) 4 smilies and welcome to The Rod Club!

Sweet build all around. I'm especially fond of the wheel wells and the two tone scheme.
