About this creation
I know I’m going to get some complaints on this entry: “No scenery! No terrain! I expect better of you!” Frankly, I’m tired. I have done a lot of building in the past few weeks and this pair of models was done more for fun than anything else, because who doesn’t like shooting stuff around? For once I’m not going to ask for constructive criticism because I already know that my toys work, but I’ll take a rating with pleasure. Now, on with the story:
~ ~ ~ Cast of Today’s MOC ~ ~ ~
Cedric the Bull: Legendary leader of the Bull Knights from KK1 back in ’99. Dresses fancy in this scene.
Sergeant Steven: Bull Clan legionnaire, protagonist, and epic warrior with split personalities. Carries a grey shield.
Sergeant William Farrer: Bull Clan soldier and Steven’s best friend. Has a green hat and one eye.
Private Igor: Steven’s kid second-cousin, a relatively new recruit with a pointy helmet.
Elon: Elfish recruit to the Bull Clan who used to live in a cave. Prettiest of the Bull Clan warriors in this scene.
Argo: Another elf and the kinsman of Elon. Hasn’t quite signed on as a Bull Clan soldier, and thus doesn’t wear the uniform or any shirt at all.
~ Lots of other Rainosians ~
“Hey, you lot! Where are you from?”
“Northern Rainos and the tunnel between the islands. I’m Sergeant Steven of the Bull Clan.”
“Really? I’ve heard about some of your work. I’ll give you another promotion if you handle yourself well in this little get-together. I’m Cedric the Bull.”
Some of the new arrivals gasped.
“Well, stop gaping. Orders are to stay back from that town and let the bandits do the actual fighting. Our job is mostly to prevent people from fleeing with anything valuable, but no one said we can’t shoot stuff at the dump. Go man some engines!”
That’s about all for the story, really. Cedric the Bull shoots stuff at the bad guys in the same way he always used to do with his cannons and catapults back in King Leo’s kingdom. Steven’s going to be bumped up a level, too, because I completed a second rank challenge earlier and didn’t give him a promotion for that yet. Now, questions:
Q: Why are the elves taller than they were in the caves, and why did some of them join Steven’s party? How did they get to Tomeu, anyway?
A: I’ll do a MOC to fill in the gaps later, and it will have the long-haired King of the Ibers in it. Hold on.
Q: Do those siege engines actually work?
A: Yes. They’re purist builds AND historically accurate! The ballista uses a winch, a pair of chains, and tension from two long poles I bought with an old Adventurers set. I modified the design from a normal bow I crafted for a BioMOC, but the crossbow fittings cut its range down to about five feet rather than ten. The catapult uses a pair of reins from one of the first (and my only) Star Wars sets entitled “Gungan Patrol” to give it its power, and can throw a one-by-one cylinder a whopping one foot. This makes it approximately equal to the larger catapult of similar design that I built out of real wood and rope a few years ago, if one accounts for scale.
Now for the bonus feature: More Indecisive Action, the spoof on the MOCpages war game I started because I don’t have time to seriously compete!

I'm really loving that ballista, the catapult is awesome too, the ballista just catches my eye more. Funny seeing these siege engines, my next MOC shows a massive trebuchet I built. Great job on these!
