About this creation
The Lands of Mythron
Universal Challenge: Tomeu's Defeat
Faction: Outlaws

We'd walked a few short hours before the walls of Tomeu were visible through the trees. The skirmish at the cave awoke something in me... It reminded me of the thrill of the chase; not knowing if you were going to make it out with your life. The bloodlust was upon me, and I longed to clash blades with another mortal. Soon enough, I told my self. Soon enough...

"Frerick, Like me, had friends in every corner of this good earth."

"Some in uniform, some like us. Outcasts. Murderers. Bandits. Thieves."

"There was a man, Frerick had told us, in Tomeu."

"He was a trained assassin. And very good at his trade, too, from what Ferick had told me."

"He went by the name Derrick. Frerick said they were cousins, and very fortunately so."

"For he would be our chance to get inside the walls, as the guards at the gate removed any weapons travelers may be carrying."

"While Frerick was noisy, and wasn't granted light feet, Derrick had the reflexes and stealth of an elf."

"He was a very good assassin, and had honed his skills in the art."

"Many a man had fell by the blade of Derrick. Many, a man."

"He made a perfect guard. From a distance, no one could tell the difference between him or any other guard. I was there. I would know."

"He was ruthless as an assassin, and beneficial as an acquaintance."

Derrick: I come to relieve 'o yor du'ies, Edrin.

Derrick: For good, Mythronian scum.

Derrick: This should be of sufficient length...Yes, this shall do.

"And there at the battlements he stood, waiting for us to come into sight."

Frerick: At last, our journey has met it's end.
Drazard: Is that... An owl?

Frerick: Ah yes, that'll be my darlin', Izzy. Com'ere, gerl! Yes, that's the way, kem on!

"Calling an animal his darling had startled me. He cherished this bird. He wasn't so gruff on the inside, I came to see. He was...soft."

Frerick: Tha's my darlin', sweet gerl... Yeh see, Drazard, This is the signal I's tellin' you all about. I sen' her flyin',and she'll on'y go to Derrick. I been trainin' 'er, as he's the on'y one I trus' to keep 'er for longer stretches o' toim.

Frerick: Righ', off yeh go darlin', tha's it!

Frerick: Wonders o' the eart, loo' a' tha' beau'y go...

"The bird didn't stay aloft long, as it had spotted it's destination, and was in turn flying towards him."

Derrick: Hello there, Izabel. Frerick ready?

Derrick: This should do the trick!

Frerick: Alrigh' you lot, be quiet, we don' wan' 'o draw any mor attention then nee'ed, righ'?

Frerick: *Grunting* I's no' such an' 'ard climb lads!

"If I had a sack of gold for every time Frerick opened his mouth, I would be richer than Solomon the Wise."

Frerick: Alrigh'y then, come on, we've go''a get off these ba''lements, so as not to attract mor' attention is nee'ed, righ'?

Frerick: Quickly, le's go!

"We separated from Derrick, who entered the tower once more, for what I suspected to be a change of attire."

"Frerick went on to tell us when to attack. He said that a horn would echo throughout the city at any moment, and that would be the sign to attack. A few more moments, and I'd have my good fight."

"We decided to scatter amongst the villagers, to minimalize the attention drawn toward us."

"I looked up at the tower, to see Derrick emerging, now covered in a red cloak, wielding a blade-staff."

"Not a moment later and Derrick had escaped my eyesight. A guard now walked towards the door, ready for his rest."

"No sooner had the door closed than a scream echoed from the tower."

"You didn't have to strain to hear what he said. It was very distinct. He had clearly shouted, 'Murder!' and that's what it was."

"Just then, the great blast of a horn had sounded through the city. It was our time to start the attack!"

"Shortly after the horn, a troop of Mythronians had come to defend the city. The fight, was about to begin."

"Before a blade clashed, another horn sounded. It wasn't in the city, though. It was in the distance."

"A guard atop the wall had spotted something. 'General!' he had called. 'General, it's Ranesian dogs!"

"Not long, and a Ranesian General was suspended in the air, clutching a ladder."

"He jumped off in great haste, and made sure no man was in his way."

"Then he did something unexpected. The great oaf jumped off the battlements!"

"When he landed, it was as though the earth had released from itself a great ripple, causing those near him to fall off balance."

"Regaining my balance, I noticed an elf, charging into the fray."

"He led a small squadron, and was very distinctly shouting, 'For Nerogue!'. Nerogue? I had never before heard the word."

"The battle tore on, very gruesome in some places."

"A few outlaws that had come with the elf charged farther into the city,"

"All shouting, 'For Nerogue!' as they went."

"My heart began to beat faster and faster against my chest. This was my first real battle. And it was just the beginning."

Cedric: By Mythron! Excellent move, good sir!

Man in Black: Always a pleasure to help a fellow outlaw.

Frerick: Drazard! I can't take him!

"I shoved the soldier I was facing off his guard, ready to help Frerick."

"Lunging towards the general, I lost my footing and fell."

"He quickly sung down at me, missing by mere inches."

"The man in black charged him as I recovered my stance."

"The general blocked the first blow with his shield, easily defending himself from the deadly short-swords."

"Quickly recovering, the man in black spun around, ready to deliver another blow with his blades. This one was a fighter."

"The general had followed his moves and momentarily stunned him with the hilt of his sword."

"The man in black shortly received a kick in the backside, sending him flying."

"He landed on a barrel, rolled off and hit his head on the tower wall, dazed. The barrel he had knocked over was heavy, by the sound of its crash."

"I grabbed the Ranesian General, to give the elf a rest."

Darvainian: Wow! You're a strong fellow!

"I threw the brute on top of the stairs. It should distract him for a short bit of time."

"I watched as the elf fought the Mythronian commander. So skilled at fighting, these elves."

"In my thoughts I failed to notice a barbarian leaping towards me. It was a foolish mistake to let down my guard."

"He knocked me to the ground, but he couldn't keep me there for long."

"I jumped up, flinging the fool backwards."

"Thinking on instinct, I leapt backwards,"

"Landing neatly on a nearby barrel."

Drazard: I wouldn't come an closer if I were you. "That fool of a Mythronian advances! He'll get what's coming to him.

"I threw my sword and shield to distract him for the extra moment I needed."

"Moving deftly from the barrel,"

"And hoisting it in the air,"

"I hurled it upon the Mythronian general, crushing him to a pulp."

"A shout breaks my moment of triumph. I look, and see that the Ranesian General has stabbed Ivo through his stomach."

Drazard: IVO!! NO!

"Rage soared through me, commanding my every move. Without thinking, I leapt towards the Ranesian."

"I knocked him over, rendering him unconscious."

"Taking his spear in my hand, I did the same to him as he did to Ivo."

"Then, taking up Ivos sword,"

"I raised it, ready to deal the final blow."

"His head and body were now two different things."

"As the life life drained from his body, I watched in awe, realizing I had never before observed this moment before."

Drazard: Ivo?! Ivo, are you alright my brother?

Darvainian: He is in good health. He just needs to catch his breath. I have bandaged the wound.

"A silence fell over the scene, as though time had stopped to honor the dead."

Man in Black: Wow, that was a sight to behold!
Darvainian: Have you considered joining Nerogue? I would be glad to have people like you fighting for justice alongside of me.

Man in Black: I shall consider it. As for now, I delve further into the fray.

Darvainian: What about you Drazard? Do you want to join Nerogue and join me?

Drazard: We shall see.

Drazard: But right now; we fight!

Indeed it is. :D There are two pieces. A white cone, and the new bull horn. (From this set: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=79110-1)

Thanks! Haha, yup. I'd have made a human, but I already have too many human siggies. Why not a cyclops? :)

Brilliant stuff! I love the color scheme throughout, it feels very realistic. The bridge outside is quite nice, and the curving tower is so clean and awesome. The action and story are both well-done, and you've put third-party products to excellent use to create the owl's wings and the horn. Epic work!

Quoting Stephen Boe However the floor in the courtyard just seems a bit too....messy. But it is still awesome work!
Thanks Stephen! It's supposed to be really really old cobblestone, and only the hapless men occasionally sweep it, so it's bound to be a bit messy. ;)

Quoting Halhi 141 I also don't like the use of the specialized tree pieces, they're too small and brick-built ones would look better (and be more skillful). Still a pretty good build though.
Well, thanks. I would have loved to do more brick built trees, but I ran out of 1x1 with studs on all sides. So I was forced to go with the specialized ones.

The build is good, but IMO the story had too many photos; you could have easily put more text per photo. In contrast to the great texturing on the front wall, the tower just seems way too plain, I'd like to see texturing there too. I also don't like the use of the specialized tree pieces, they're too small and brick-built ones would look better (and be more skillful). Still a pretty good build though.

A good looking build, plus an epic tale. I like the random textured bricks in the wall and the statues that decorate it. Nice to see some of those old one-piece pointy trees blended into the greenery too! All of those macro photos must must have taken you ages to set up and shoot: brilliant work!
