My entry to the second round of the 50/50 challenge. Roughly half System, half Technic.
About this creation
Location: Metru Nui (imprisoned), outside of Metru Nui (currently)
Lived: 90000 B. G. C. - 500 B. G. C.
Element: Telekinesis, Ice (after awakening)
Titles: The Cryogen, The Giant
This character's early history is unknown, except that it was fought and defeated by the great Toa Onadus.
He was brought to Metru Nui, where he was placed in the archives under extreme cold. However, 500 years before the Great Cataclysm, he awoke, and broke his bonds.
It was here that he discovered that the right side of his body was frozen... and he possessed Ice power, in addition to his natural Telekinetic ability.
The Vahki attempted to prevent his escape, but he used his new abilities to defeat them.
The Brotherhood of Makuta, who were preparing for their takeover of the universe, decided that the Cryogen was a threat, and sent One of their own to defeat him. He approached the creature in the form of his old foe, Toa Onadus.
However, not possessing the Toa's powers, he was quickly knocked back.
He then took a new form, to counter his dual-powered enemy: half shadow, half flame.
And then the true battle began. Each wielded two powers, which were locked together. Who would break through the other's defenses first?
To be continued....
Fourth Wall begins here. Well, this is my entry to the second round of the 50/50 challenge. The challenge for this round was to build an entry that was half BIONICLE/Hero Factory/Technic, and half System. The story I came up with was that he was originally fully BIONICLE, and frozen substances attached to half of his body.
(Note: though everything runs together here, the build took about a week.)
As per usual, I began with the legs. I wanted to incorporate the old ice blocks from Alpha Team Deep Freeze (one of my favorite themes). To build properly sized Technic legs, I used some rarer elements I got from BIONICLE sets off eBay to form the core of the legs. Then I started on the torso. I used the Visorak legs to create a ribcage, and used lots of slope elements on the right side of the torso. I continued the arms then, adding some Hero Factory elements, but still tried to make it look good with BIONICLE. After doing some refining on the torso, I tried to make a 50/50 head, but none of my tries came up with anything good, so I went for a fully Technic head, slightly oriented to the Technic side.
Comparison with Iron Hunter and Toa Onadus. I was surprised to find he nearly matched Iron Hunter in height.
Want to know my scoring, eh? All right, here goes...Overall, this is pretty well done. For once, I'm not going to say he needs bulk, he seems bulky enough. He does seem rather blocky to me, which I didn't like. He seems a bit stiff, too. I'd have liked to see some more flexibility. The ice parts was a good thought, they do work pretty well. Though some of the bio parts are a bit repetitive, such as the metru armor, the white feet and the Visorak 3 hole pins. Pretty nice work all together.
