5867 - Race Truck
Only using the pieces from Creator set 5867.
About this creation
My third alternative from this set. Loosly based on a Renault race truck. Tilting cab, opening doors and reclining seats. Detailed interior and engine bay.

Most of my lego is packed up so I only have this set available. I am still trying to figure out the best place to take photos in my new house hence why the photos are not as good as normal.

Anyways, I hope you like it :)

The cab tilts and clicks back into place using the stud just behind the front wheels.

Opening doors and reclining seats.

I know I already said this for your last alternate for this set, but again, It blows me away how many completely different this is from your other alternates, using the same pieces. Quite good!

Quoting Gabor Horvath Cool! Can't wait to see it! :) Do you remember my dakar rally truck? It was in the top 100 in the technic competition, so Lego sent me the blue crawler! I'll start building soon!
Wow Gabor that is really cool congratulations :).

Quoting Aaden Hughes Very cool! I agree with Nick, it does look like the technic race truck, but way better! You should come and check out the Custom Cars Club, we're doing an overhaul of the group and will be having a contest very soon. Join in the conversations and vote for which contest theme you would like to see. The link is... http://www.mocpages.com/group.php/13830. It would be great to have you as a member!
Thanks Aaden, I've joined the group :)

Thanks Mr Nils O. Start your engines, but I fear this doesn't stand a chance against your Dragtruck!!

Well, In spite of Nathanael's rather hard criticism I really like this approach to the Truck Racing theme. This one is much more realistic than my long nose race truck built with the same set. My one has much more of a comic book style, more like a Dragster than a track racer. This one is getting really close to a real racing truck, especially with the mid-engine design. So for me, it's still a 5/5, great job! :-)) P.S.: Want a race? ;-))

Quoting Nick Barrett Looks a lot like that Technic race truck from a few years back; only better - with far fewer pieces! Top work.
Thanks Nick. I actually have that technic truck, it is a nice set. Currently working on alt. no 4 from this set.

Quoting Nathanael Kuipers
Hi Nathanael. I appreciate your honest appraisal and constructive criticism, especially as you are the master of this set. I do not think you are the only one who thinks this “doesn’t feel right” as it has not been as popular as my other alternatives. I don’t think the photos help either. In many ways I agree with you, this is not as pretty as my 31006 version although it does have more functions. The tilting cab was difficult to do because I wanted the wheel arches to tilt as well and connect (lock) back into place. Unfortunately this impacted on the front aesthetics (the bumper being slightly flatter than I had wanted). Earlier designs had a more sporty front but it hit the ground (and lifted the front wheels) as it tilted. I always want my mocs to junction correctly – just like an official model. I actually had some left over bows and tiles but could not use them as it made the model look heavy. I must try harder next time ;). Thanks for your interest :D

Perhaps I'm the only one here, but somehow this model doesn't feel right to me. I seem to have most problems with the cab design, which I find a bit bland and out of proportion. For example I miss the distinctive bumper and the very narrow window of a racing truck. In that respect I prefer your 31006 version. This just lacks the refinement and polish that I have come to expect from you. Looking at all the 5867 alternatives out there, I'm convinced that you can come up with something better... Edit: Admittingly, you have included some nice features though, with the tilting cab and opening (suicide)doors.

Quoting sam the first this has inspired me to build some sort of racing truck . anyone fancy one of these? http://www.garage-antoine.be/newsletter/06/NL/truckrace.JPG
Thanks sam. That was my inspiration for this build. You might also like my other race truck using Creator set 31006. Looking forward to see what you come up with.

Quoting Henrik Jensen Nice alternative! It has the real racing look, with the relatively low cab. Great detailing in front, interior, engine and rear fenders.
Thanks Henrik, glad you like it. I assume you have this set - it is one of the best for alternatives, it has many more functional pieces than 31006.
