A new enemy to heed! (Freebuild, with the help of Owlsafa Jones)
About this creation
Thorond and Revin followed the trail of the Onrr lato. Revin found it hard to keep up with the old man who was over 30 years older than he!
Thorond stopped and stooped to the ground inspecting the path looking for any sign of the enemy.
"Thorond?" asked Revin, "how long have you been tracking the Onrr lato?"
"40 years." Thorond replied.
Revin gasped, "40 years! And for what reason do you follow them?"
Suddenly, Thorond jumped to his feet, "Quiet! Do you hear that?" Revin listened intently. Then he heard it. Voices!
Thorond whispered to Revin, "Climb up the rocks! QUICKLY!" The last word sent Revin dashing to the boulder, sheathing his sword and shield, and jumping onto a ledge. Sheathing his axe, Thorond followed.
As they climbed the voices drew nearer.
They clambered over the rock and found that it provided sufficient concealment.
Just then the voices came into view. Two sturdy, young men with grim faces each holding a spear neared the rocks. Revin looked at Thorond. "Onrr lato!" Thorond whispered.
They stopped and stood on the path, guarding it.
"Oi on't know woi we gotta stan' roun' 'ear guardin' Largol? Said the first one.
"You idiot!" Said the second one, "you know well enough why Snutty! Old Mekorsh's been following us again and Master don't want him to surprise us! We're set hear to make sure he don't!
Revin looked at Thorond, "Mekorsh?"
"Yes, that's what they call me." Thorond answered. "Mekorsh is a name used in Rainos for someone who's strong. It means "Hammer" in your tongue." He looked down at the guards then looked back at Revin. "I got bids on the farthest one. You take the other."
"Alright." Revin answered.
Revin climbed to the ledge of the boulder trying not to make any noise. Thorond pulled forth a short sword from his cloak. The guards didn't notice anything. Instead, they kept on talking. "Na! Snutty shouted angrily, "Ma'orsh ain't a My'ronian! 'e be a-!"
His words were cut short as Thorond threw his short sword into his gut. Revin threw his shield knocking Largol off balance.
Revin jumped down and stabbed Largol in the stomach. Thorond jumped down after him and drew his blade from the body of Snutty.
Revin looked at Thorond. "He said you weren't a Mythronian. Who are-?"
"No time to answer that!" Thorond said. "We need to hurry, they might be near."
Thorond jumped over the body of Largol and left the path with Revin plodding along behind.
They walked on. Then, startled, they dodged behind a rock surprised at what they saw.
In a small clearing there stood the Onrr lato with there leader. In front of him there stood a cloaked figure wielding two great scimitars.
"He has been following me long enough!" Said the leader, "He has killed many of my men this week! It must stop! Destroy him Olarg, and I will
pay you richly."
Olarg looked at the Onrr lato leader. "The reward, and my usual pay!"
The leader thought a while and then turned to a strongly built man, "Gleeber! Give me his pay!" The man nodded and grabbed a diamond and handed to his master.
The leader grabbed it from Gleeber's hands and handed it to Olarg, "Here's your pay Olarg. Do not fail me!"
Olarg took the diamond and tucked it in his cloak. "I will not fail you."
Olarg turned and took his leave. The leader watched as Olarg left, then relaxed. Makorsh, his ancient enemy will die. The Onrr lato turned to one another and started to whisper.
The Onrr lato leader turned to Gleeber, "Now Gleeber, when we reach the village, I want you to take your men and-."
There was a sudden movement and an Onrr lato soldier stumbled in.
"Valmork!" The leader said, "I thought you were dead!"
"My master!" Began Valmork, "Makorsh! He's close at hand! I saw him three hours ago, he'll be hear soon! Master! The Mythronian
has joined him!"
"You're sure about this?" The leader asked.
"Yes master! I saw them leave together! They will be here very soon! They might even be here at this moment!"
"We must go!" The leader thought, "Makorsh is nearby, I know it! Argh! We should not have stayed so long!"
He turned to his men, "Onrr lato! We must depart at once! We head west to our camp! Quickly!"
He raced ahead of the others followed by Gleeber. The rest of the Onrr lato trudged behind.
Thorond bounded over the rock towards the clearing. He hadn't been able to hear much, be he knew that he could not linger in one place. Revin ran behind and said, "Did you hear anything they said? They were too far away for me to hear."
Yes." Answered Thorond, "All I will say is that we cannot stay in one place!"
They reached the clearing where the Onrr lato had just been. Thorond inspected his surroundings. He looked to his right...
And chose the path. Revin raced behind keeping up with the old man and soon they left the clearing.
Half an hour passed, and Olarg jumped over the rocks and set off on his mission...
To kill the Makorsh!
