The Mirage is a small but heavily armed attack craft.
About this creation

I built the Mirage in Winter 2004. It's a versatile attack craft that can operate in space or in atmosphere. It has a crew of one and is armed with missile pods on the wing pylons and a central heavy laser cannon.

The essential design concept of the Mirage is a fusion of the Nasal Avenger and the Piranha Fighter . While it sports the Nasal Avenger's color scheme and general shnozzy shape, it also has many elements of the Piranha--the quarter saucer panels, the wing-mounted missile pods, and the central laser cannon.

The rear view showing the Mirage's propulsion system. The Mirage has a central ion drive (shown in trans neon) for space travel and jet engines (on either side of the ion drive) and repulsor lift for atmospheric flight. The repulsor lift is especially valuable because in enables the craft to skim low over most planetary surfaces or even hover in place.

The Jack Stone canopy worked great with this MOC. It follows the curve of the saucer panels almost perfectly.

The Mirage has a large retractable landing skid under the main hull and adjustable landing skids on the outboard missile pods.

A view of the cockpit with the ejection seat removed (to be used in atmosphere, of course). The Jack Stone canopy allowed for a roomy cockpit. In fact, I originally made the Mirage a two seater but I figured a single seater for this type of craft was more realistic.

It's hard to make a spaceship in tan look good, even harder to make a jack stone canopy look good. You have skill.

Great job! I'd love to see what it looks like with a two seater.
