Alright then, this is the MAI 12, long-range, widebody, tri-jet. I always wanted to build a widebody commercial aircraft, some of you who have looked at my older stuff will know, about the cancelled SFM3 project, i got as far as the wings, before i realised i didn't have enough parts, or so i thought, and this aircraft, proves that i have barely enough parts, i have provided space for the landing gear, should any wheels pop up during this aircraft's lifetime
About this creation
Alright, before i begin with the specs and pics

I originally started building out a long-range twinjet, something along the lines of 777, 767, A330, but then when i fit the wings, and started making prototypes for the engines, it became clear they were too small (the lego engines are even smaller) the solution, add 1 more!!
So this turned out as a tri-jet, looking obviously like the MD-11

Credits:
I used a heavily modified version of Quogg's 767 nose for this aircraft

Well then, stats

Fuselage Length: 101 studs - 81.3 cm (32 in)
Fuselage width: 10 studs
Wingspan: 106 studs - 88.9 cm (35 in)
Tailspan: 35 studs - 27.9 cm (11 in)
Height: 33 studs - 29.2 cm (11.5 in)
Weight: 1.5 Kg

well, features:

moving flaps
independently trimmable, moving elevators
Spoilers

No ailerons, No landing gear, No rudder, all due to shortage of hinge bricks, i only have 12 of them

I am planing to make an AWACS verson, and a tanker version aswell

Another view of the front, the red sloping bricks are the cockpit windows

Engine 1

Landing lights

Winglet, and the typical red Right of way lights, and the blue (supposed to be white) strobe lights for the left wing, there are blue and green lights on the right wing

Flaps raised and spoilers down

Flaps down and spoilers (speed brakes) activated

Another view of spoilers

Tail view showing Engine 2. And no, the M doenst stand for McDonald's, its for Manthan

Elevator

Elevator does move

Elevator Trim!!!

Another view of the trimmed elevator (trimmed for crashing obvously)

The other Elevator

The blue (supposed to be white) strobe lights on the tail

Another view of the Tail

Yet another view of the tail, showing the gentle upwards slope, from the bottom

The 3 engines. Engine 2's cowling is longer because of obvous reasons (the engine part itself will not be, IRL)

Another view

Overall front view

Wing view?, hopefully you can see the aerofoil-ish shape

Underwing view with flaps down

Bottom rear view

Top of the fuselage, showing the red beacon lights on top

Tail cam?

Internals, you see that top white 2 stud wide brick, below the slopes? That layer runs almost the entire length of the fuselage, that sits on the long red brick you see, that layers, theres 2 of them, one on the bottom, and one on the top, that you see there, they run almost the entire length of the fuselage also, they mutually support each other, and hold the top and bottom of the aircraft, very nice design if i do say so myself

View of a removed elevator, you see that yellow 90* brick, that fits into

That blue thingy, that is all that holds the elevator to the aircraft....
Air Crash Investigation: Flawed Design :P

Underbelly

Beacon lights

Here you can see the underside of the wing more clearly

A parting shot

Well, as stated earlier, credits to Quogg for the nose design, everything else is my own design, and no slats or ailerons because of a shortage of hinge bricks, no landing gear because of no wheels

well, thats about it

EDIT: Click here for KC-12 tanker version

THANK YOU!!

I wouldv'e added another layer beneath the wing that you see, but lack of parts, this really used my resources

A bit slow in commenting; sorry 'bout that. Nice work Manthan! I love the "M" on the tail; nice touch! I feel that you probably should've made the wing a bit larger, as in deep. In short, I feel they are a bit too skinny for such a large aircraft. Even so, though, I can tell this is a massive craft; 5/5!

Quoting Disco Chicken It would be even better than it already is if it could fit tons of minifigs! But stiil great plane!
It can still 'fit' tons of minifigs, but in cargo class :P

i see you have a slight shortage of parts and i feel you're pain (hence my stuff being on ldd). considering that, this a great build, one of the best planes I've seen. great work!!

...haha very good. How could I forget the McDonald Douglas F4 Phantom. I think it came free with a happy meal in the 60s ;)

Considering your availability of parts, this is an outstanding build. I would really like to see what you could do with more parts! Well done.

Quoting MortalSwordsman . I didn't know McDonald's made planes ;) I did read it stands for Manthan. Very well shaped and I can see you have tried to colour match the wings.
of course it does http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnell_Douglas

ohhh, I really wish you d get the parts needed to properly polish this piece, as you deserve it for such an eye in sculpting, the lack of parts clearly hurt this craft, not your lack of talent, it amazes me how close you are with what you have, and the functions you achieved without compromising the delicious shapes, the kits you received don t help you much in your usual kind of building, I tought you d change style, but, clearly, you re a sculptor, I wonder how you ll manage to take advantage of those.
