USS Enterprise CVN-65 (scale 1/350)
Quoting Mihe Stonee on my first teaser WIP: "well done so far... good look to get this to life ;-) !" Here I am, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
About this creation
This is the USS Enterprise CVN-65, build in a scale of 1/350.
This means to scale a big ship with a length of about 1,123 ft (342 m) and a beam of 257.2 ft (78.4 m) down to a size of about 123 studs (length) and about 28 studs (beam).
The used colors (in majority) are
old light grey (ship hull and island),
dark bluish grey (flight deck) and
light bluish grey (main antenna on the island, flight deck construction, the planes).

The amount of used parts are

-the ship itself: 2833 parts
-the airwing (including deck vehicles): 620 parts
= leads to a total of 3453 parts coming up in nearly 300 lots!

History:
Back in my dark age I build some plastic kits from Revell, Tamiya and others. I also started the 1/350 scale modell of the Big E from Tamiya but never completed it. The uncompleted modell stood for years in the cupboard.
After starting building with Legos again, once I had a look at the uncompleted modell and asked myself "why not building it with Legos?"

A project was born.

This was around xmas 2012. Soon later, I started the work on it. The organisation of the parts that I already have and those who needed to be ordered became a brainexploding story.

The Ship:
The carrier itself is build in the latest version, as far as I could get it and possible with Legos, until it was decommissioned in december 2012.
The elevators are fully working. Also all 4 jet blast deflectors can be rised. The 4 arresting cables for landing are installed.

DESASTER! While making these pictures, an upcoming wind blows my white background wall. It falls directly on the ship.
This happened 2 times. Do you know the feeling you can kill somebody? :/

I equipped the ship with some "technics". :)
It has 4 raisable jetblast deflectors, 4 arresting cables and moveable elevators.

The Airwing:
The airwing consists in total of

8x Grumman F-14 Tomcat
6x Grumman F-18 Hornet
4x McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom
4x Grumman A-7 Corsair II
2x Grumman E-2C Hawkeye (1 with folded wings)
1x Grumman C-2 Greyhound
2x Lockheed S-3 Viking (1 with folded wings)
2x Grumman A-8 Prowler (1 with folded wings)
= 29 planes

2x Sikorsky SH-61 Sea King (1 with folded wings)
4x Sikorsky SH-60 Sea Hawk (3 with folded wings)
= 6 choppers

I know that this constellation wasnt ever in service at the same time but I thought those are the most famous or even very well known ones.
Also there are little different versions of most of the planes because some of them were build with folded wings. Only the Tomcats can be both versions at the same time. They just sweap their wings.

Like in 18th June 1964. The Enterprise has Albert Einstein's mass-energy equivalence formula E=mc² spelled out on its flight deck.
The USS Long Beach and USS Bainbridge are missing. :/
New project? :D Lets see..... ;)

I would like to thank Mr Prasad , CEO of Prasad Heavy Industries for the exchange of ideas and talkings during this project and Im proud of being his inspiration to build his own USS Enterprise CVN-80 in the same scale. Even if my ship take more time to realize.
This kept the motivation of handling and managing of all the BL-orders up.

Respekt! All diese kleinen Details, die kleinen Flugzeuge etc... Wirklich eine tolle Arbeit. Mach weiter so. Lg, Sven

Quoting Henrik Hoexbroe This is very nice. You should try to make the deck using SNOT tecniques; That would allow for finer letters/numbers and lines.
First I thought about using SNOT technics. This would bring advancements for lines and deckmarkings. But the diadvancement is, that you give up some correct detailings.

Quoting Achintya Prasad Hey, Locutus, I was wondering, did you have any shots of the hanger bay? My ship's odd shape and stance didn't allow me to take pictures of the inside, and I was wondering about the inside of your vessel.....
ehm not really. It has a full hangar deck but unlike my other carriers i couldnt manage to give this ship a removeable deck. there must be one shot, maybe at the desaster pics or on flickr where you can see a little bit of the hangar.

Quoting matt rowntRee The level of detail you've achieved is truly amazing and inspiring. An absolutely fantastic accomplishment and one you should be quite proud of. I love the way you built the hull. Perfect angling. Arresting cables, elevators, and service vehicles are extremely clever. All the planes are easily identifiable. Quoting David Roberts I like the way that you've captured the distinctive island of the Enterprise and its hangar doors and dech lifts. It was also fun to spot the various types of aircraft in the airwing, especially the ones that are now obsolete. I wonder if you could have got smoother stripes on the deck be building it at an angle to the hull? It would be quite a technical challenge though :) A great build nonetheless.
The angled deck would improve the look of the airstrip but bring you lots of problems at the edge of the flightdeck. :/

Quoting Sebeus I Very nice, I don't like the orange though, it looks out of place, perhaps replacing it by white or light gray would be better? Other than that it looks great.
In the original there are some orange pattern too. The oversize of my orange is just a matter of LEGO. Only true plastic kits provide correct scaled details.
