After 3 weeks of building I present my 115 stud CS starship. Thanks Topsy for the idea to make the robot the cook - brilliant! The interior isn't as I'd wished, but tiles were in short supply by then. This is a learning curve build - just you wait till you see the next one!

Quoting Stephan N So many details, I needed to capture it all for a while. The engine looks incredibly good. The modular design is very realistic. The kitchen is absolutely cool. Excellent work. Do you still have all of these MOC's together?
Sadly they have to be broken up for new ones to be built. I don't have that large a brick collection.

Magnificent! This is exactly what a CS SHIP should be. Love the robot, but the ship itself is the star, looks ready to handle anything it finds.

Fun stuff! It's CS meets Colonial Movers! You even put a shower in there (although only one occupant). Great design, Chief!

Quoting Tim C So cool, David. I'm really glad that someone threw down a CS SHIP this month, and I wouldn't expect from anyone else more than you. I love the multicolored design, and I know I mentioned this on Flickr, but the assymetry is what keeps my attention on this one. As far as the details are concerned, the interior is a major win. And I absolutely, without a doubt love that chef bot. Great work last month, David, and I hope you get some nods from the judges on it.
Maybe a nod, I'm far out of the running, there are just too many stunning builds in that contest. Still it was so much fun, and I'm more than glad I took the challenge up.

Wow, that's excellent! It almost looks like something you could have built back in the 1980s using your whole brick collection. I would have loved it back then and I love it now, too. It looks like a whole lotta fun to play with. Great job! :-))

Quoting David Roberts Oh, I've just read the comment thread below. They ARE naked! Shocking! ;)
No, no, no, they aren't naked - and I carefully placed the shower head in the shower photo to cover anything untoward. I was just playing with people's perceptions.

My favorite bits are the robot (still!) and the space crab. It's nice to see that the sleeping arrangements are as spartan as the ones that I used to build into my ships of childhood: two studs wide, a roof tile for a pillow and some more studs to stick into your bottom when you lie down. Worrying to see the naked lady in the shower. Even more worrying is that if yellow is colour of Classic Spacemen's skin, quite a few of them are naked whilst on duty :P I suppose that naturism was more fashionable back in the 70s! The build is quite a lot of square boxes, apart from the angular engines but I think that this totally in keeping with the spirit on the build & theme. It also provides loads of room for all of the fun things that you've tucked away in the stern module. This SHIP is so much fun and I think that it gets the CS feel just right. It's a great alternative from so many of the the agressive, hugely armed SHIPtember builds too.

Quoting sam the first third picture from the bottom; is it just me, or does it look like the guy is naked? i know it's a space suit-but from a quick glance... ;P

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Love the shape and colours. Matt and SS sum this build up perfectly - so different but so you, and full of opportunities to start a full story line. I also feel a bit of El Barto in there somewhere, possibly in the shower (that sounds a bit wrong most delete that sentence).
El Barto and Parrington were very much on my mind when I built the shower room. What have those guys done to me :)

Quoting Starscream Soundwave My favourite from you so far. This is an absolutely epic build, it is quite different from things you've done before yet immediately recognisable as one of your builds. It's packed with so many brilliant details and functions, I love the beds and the shower room. The robot chef is one of my favourite details, and I also love the crab. I really like the asymmetry too, it works very well. All in all a fantastic build, very enjoyable to look at and I presume even more enjoyable to play with! Superb work.
It is really quite sturdy, and easy to play with. Take off the roofs and is a giant CS dolls house.

Quoting matt rowntRee Bravo sir, BRAVO! You did it! And splendidly, I might add. Nothing beats an asymmetrical design. It's the one thing that CS was lacking. You've managed to capture CS and big SHIP-ness better than expected. These big ones open the mind to detail and possibility. I'll even bet that you're planning on doing a bigger one with more detail and deeper storylines with characters having histories. These massive things occupy more space than the physical world can allow. ;) I am truly impressed by the thought you put into this, I know they are staggering. Fantastic job and I really want to see what comes next! You have opened yourself up to a massive amount of potential. Exciting and beautiful on multiple levels!
Thanks Matt, this was such a steep learning curve for me. Some parts of the build I'm very happy with, others less so, and isn't that just the drive you need to get going on the next one. That dream of the giant CS rover almost seems possible now.

Quoting clayton Marchetti Now that's a deep explorer. I like the vehicle garage very cool. The engine in the shape of a pentagon is fantastic. And of corse the robot chef is excellent.
Right from the start I wanted an exterior mounted thruster. The pentagon came together as a great way of creating bulk, but being hollow, adding little weight so it could hang nicely to the side.

Quoting Vladimir van Hoek Wonderful! The bold, asymetrical hull is so much more interesting than a genuine CS model could ever be. But you have to stop your brick-biting addiction; those teeth marks are worse than the studdy interior :P I love the interior, it makes it complete.
Working at this scale means I need every brick. With the collection being mainly mine and my two brothers' childhood lego! there are going to be teeth scars. What you going to do, not build.

Quoting Topsy Creatori (StoveTopCreator!) Wow, when I saw it on flickr as a WIP I didn't realize it was big enough to have those great interiors! Cooky indeed! Also, after seeing the shower scene, I almost did a double take when I saw the second photo after it! Yes he's a cs yellow space guy, but I almost thought he was working el buffo... hee, hee! Such a fun build! :)
What can I say, those power cells give off a lot of heat, how else is a spaceman to keep cool.

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 wow! so original! it does nt disappoint, it s big! it seems like the pictures does nt cover it all, I feel like there is even more to see, I love how you covered every aspect of living conditions in it, as if it was built for long trips, I thought you d explain the purpose of the exterior robot though, what does it do? is there a landing gear? the blue section seems to open to deliver vehicles, superb ship David!
That's a maintenance crab, used for hull and engine repairs on long haul missions. The landing gear is functional - enough said. More photos to come :)

Quoting Stuart Lucas What a fun build, a real labour of love and wonderfully asymmetrical! I always enjoy your style and this is more of it in one place. Great! You are inspiring me to attempt a SHIP scale starship myself... once the MO is over, that is.
