MO R2: General X vs Halhi 141
My Round 2 entry to the 2013 MocOlympics!
About this creation
2013 MocOlympics
My opponent, Halhi 141, and his very nice entry.
Category: Looks good enough to eat: Build a Lego meal (one to one scale). What's your favorite food?

PIZZA!!!PIZZAPIZZAPIZZA!!!!! (And salad, and pie, and whatever else.)

The pizza, topped just the way I like: pepperoni, olives, mushrooms, green peppers, various seasonings and cheese!

The salad, topped with tomatoes and ranch dressing.

Strawberry pie! Mmmm!

Water glass with straw. Eating pizza properly is very messy, you don't want to be picking up your glass so a straw is essential.

Fork.

I made it so it droops very realistically!

Droop exaggerated so you can see it better.

The salad with the fork in it.

The pie.

Another view of the pie.

The water glass again.

More pictures of the pizza on the plate.

FOURTH WALL:
This is my first attempt at making realistic life-size food. It wasn't as good as planned, since a few BrickLink orders didn't come on time, but it is still pretty good I think. I tried to make LEGO plates, but I was unable to create a satisfactory design. The cup and fork make up for that somewhat. It was hard to decide between pizza and a sub sandwich, since both are favorite foods of mine, mostly because they are both large and have stuff from the four main food groups: grains, vegetables, meat and cheese. IRL I would eat 5 or 6 pieces of pizza this size, double the salad and as much pie as I could finagle. :) Grazie, italiani, per la creazione di pizza!

Good luck Halhi!

Hah, yum! I had this category when I played last year. I took the Italian approach too, though with a slightly different menu. :)

Probably the toughest IMO to judge. While the toppings needed work, the droop is classic. The pie looks delicious as well. ;) Congrats!

Congrats on advancing, the droop to the pizza is a very clever detail! Well done.

Quoting Mr. Xenomurphy This is a tough decision, but I like your building techniques here. Though I'm not a huge fan of the fork, the pie is very cleverly done and the drooping pizza is like pizza should be. You got my vote. Congratulations.
Whoopee! I advance! :D

Quoting General X (aka SuperSpyX) Okay, many pizza places put the cheese under the crust. But whenever I make my own pizza, I put the cheese on top.
Wait, under the crust? Isn't that just going to get it stuck to the oven then?
Quoting General X (aka SuperSpyX) I have never been to Olive Garden. TV ads about tomato alfredo and salads do no help with dessert.
:L

Quoting MCLegoboy ! So all of the pizza places in the world put toppings under the cheese? Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. Image Google pizza. All the toppings are on top. Go to any pizza joint and they will put the toppings over the cheese unless you're where they only make deep dish pizza. The toppings stick just fine.

Quoting MCLegoboy ! As for Italian deserts, think of stuff from Olive Garden.

Well this is a really hard one to call. I like the fact that your pizza and pie are both built rather than placed pieces. The pizza topping isn't' quite right, but the sag of loaded cheese with those hinges makes up for it. The banana piece slipping off the end to emulate beautiful hot mozzarella , yum! So, based mainly on building application than one being better than the other, you're getting my vote. But believe me this was close.

General, this is a most excellent meal. You built everything effectively, though I think the colour use, especially on the pizza, is somewhat scattered. Also, the textures seem a bit wonky. That said, this still looks delicious and the pie is especially nice looking. This is a really, really tough match to judge, but I think your opponent wins my vote. A 51-49 split to be sure though, best of luck with the last judge!

Awesome builds! One thing that really caught me was... that I have the exact same plates at my house! O.o

Quoting General X (aka SuperSpyX) What?!? What kind of person puts the cheese UNDER the toppings?? It's supposed to go on top so it melts over the toppings and keeps them from falling off. Besides spaghetti and pizza I really don't know much about Italian food, so I just built a dessert that I know. Halhi's entry does look very nice and realistic, but it's a tad simple for my taste (hahaha.haha.ha.).

Quoting MCLegoboy ! That pizza is seriously lacking in cheese. I read you comment to Deus. Dude, you put toppings on top of cheese, not the other way around, unless this is a deep dish pizza, which this is not. It still looks good from a building standpoint, but if I ever received a slice like that, I'd be very disappointed. If I had to choose, I'd pick Halhi. His has a much better theme and design. The salad and pizza somewhat work, but go for a canola or something Italian for desert; strawberry pie just seems so thrown in there. Anyway, the builds are good and I like that you had more stud connection, even though Halhi kind of had to go loose, but the builds aren't too appetizing to me.

I like it! but like your opponent - I would have suggested making your plates as well out of Lego! Since neither of you built your dinnerware besides the utensils its going to be hard to call for the judges. Lego plate would have been the edge for either of you IMO. Good luck!

Quoting Halhi 141 it seems a bit messy and haphazard.
Pizza is messy and haphazard. How many people do you know that make careful plans to lay out the toppings in precise patterns?
Quoting Halhi 141 The glass also seems too small.
I ran out of clear 1x2 plates. :P

Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus Too bad about the plates. And to be honest, I would never eat pizza like this. Where is all the cheese? The first rule of pizza making is to use at least one kilogram of cheese per 50 centimetres of diameter.
I would've put more cheese on, but I was worried about it hiding the other toppings. I do like lots of cheese! (And yes, I'm not totally happy with not being able to change my name, sometime in the future I'm gonna change it to X Industries.)

Wow! Fantastic job on that slice of pizza . I lke the cheese hanging off the front and the way the front part hangs down just like a real piece . I also like the the fork and the glass. Excellent entry

I can understand your sentiments about the plates, I lacked the white tiles to make good plates/bowls. And I lacked the trans clear parts to make a good glass, though hopefully I made up for that with the subtle Lego ice in the water. Anyway, nicely done. While the drooping effect on the pizza is excellent, I think that the looks could be better, it seems a bit messy and haphazard. The glass also seems too small. Still, the fork is well made.

You like too much on your pizza. I like mine simpler -- just cheese, or pepperoni. If only they had trans-brown for tea. :)
