Oh, and if I decide to post it in the group...
It turns out Grant has a homepage. For the record, I really, REALLY respect that guy and his originality.
Well, the photographs look legitimately scientific, which was the style I was going for. And it makes much more sense this way. It was raining and kind of dark and cold and stuff, so as far as realism goes, this is mostly the kind of pictures you would get of a real animal.
Nice little pet there! Love the accents of yellow and the "S" shape of him scurrying about. Very natural motion! I'd love to see a shot of it on a plain background just to see technique and detail a bit better. Great pics though, he looks just right in the environment. Congrats!
Shame you didn't have an opponent but great build anyway. While the photos here look really accurate for the category and style, I would be interested to see a lighter close up to see some of the construction technique on the shaping and the yellow accents. Well done.
it looks a bit more organic, but, it might be more about the context it s in than anything else, as, the design is so complex, + it s black with yellow accents... it s hard to distinguish, the important thing is that it looks good, and that we can tell instantly what it is, and it accomplishes that with success, the kind of pics you post suggest that it s your priority as well, as, otherwise, you would have used a simple white background, it has to be the most realistic salamander that I ever seen! bravo Deus!
