MO R2 LWC guy vs Jacob Huppi
LWC guy vs Jacob Huppi Nursery Rhymes These deceptively innocent little poems often conceal darker meanings. Select one of Mother Goose's classic verses and give it a modern twist. How would Hollywood portray the rhyme?
About this creation
2013 MocOlympics

Jacob Huppi

~~~~~
Prince charming had heard of a needy princess, locked away in a tower. Her name was Rapunzel and she had long, golden hair.
Considering himself quite the hero, he rode to her tower and climbed his way up her hair to save her.
But unfortunately for him, he failed to wonder why Rapunzel had been confined in this tower.
~~~

I know what you're thinking - "eh?! That's not a nursery rhyme!" Well you're right, but it was only yesterday that I realized that I had been building a fairy tale instead. That's right, I TOTALLY missed the category. I don't know how I managed it, but I somehow oversaw the "nursery rhyme" part of the category, and instead I interpreted it as "fairy tale". Epic fail.

Well, here's my darker Hollywood take on Rapunzel. I don't have high expectations with this failed entry, but I'm more than happy to have Jacob go through to R3 instead of myself. At the beginning of this contest I concluded that I would compete, just not very intensively, and I had a fairly decent run last year anyway. Not to mention that I'm away on an island next week, (woop woop!) so would have very little time to build.

Anyways, thanks for checking this build out, and thanks a ton judges for your time and effort! I wish you the best of luck Jacob! :D

Quoting Thomas Woodbridge Cool I like the rocks on the base of the tower. I feel like it could have been a little taller though? Also, would it be possible to fit tiles in the gaps between the bricks making up the tower? that might give it a smoother effect. I like the hair hanging out the window
Nah, tiles in the gaps wouldn't be possible without redesigning the tower's innards. Thanks!

Quoting The Timinater ! pity it's slightly off the category, cos its a pretty cool build! are the large grey pieces used in the tower base just standing there?
No, they're more or less connected using the rainbow technique :)

D'oh! Oh well. Great build anyhow. I like the technique for the tower. I think smooth tiles would have been a better choice instead of studded, but it still works well. perhaps some textured bricks here and there throughout the lengths would have drawn the attention less to the studs. Still excellent!

Despite the 'OOPS' moment for the category, that is a nice build and a funny pay-off! Better luck next time.

Quoting LWC guy Sure, it could have greatly changed the result, but sportsmanship is more important to me than winning. Besides, I had a good run last year and this year I've been planning to just take it easy.
I know, your parents were really good like mine. They taught you better judgement and how to use a conscious against yourself. Fills me with rage about that, and then I feel guilty afterward. :)
Thanks :) I really don't mind not going through, I probably wouldn't have been able to enter anyway.

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Haha, good stuff. Some nice landscaping, and a funny twist. However, due to the mis-categorization, your opponent gets my vote. Always read your category aloud! ;) Have fun on the island, and hopefully you come back for more MO action next year.
Quoting Mr. Xenomurphy I'm sorry that you didn't match the category, but so did your opponent as far as I can tell. For these and other reasons I prefer to abstain from voting. With the other 2 judges' votes Jacob will still make it to Round 3 and that is fine by me. Nevertheless, I really like the rockwork at the bottom of your tower and the funny twist. Better luck next year.
Thanks guys! See you next year!

Quoting MCLegoboy ! Dude, I know you wanted to be fair, but you sot yourself in the foot by telling him he didn't have the correct title. It would have been a very odd, and quite possibly the best win in the history of the MocOlympics, because of him building correctly but being disqualified and you not building correctly but having no opposing force. This is still a fantastic build.

Quoting David Alexander Smith You said it yourself, epic fail with the brief. This would have done quite well in the fairy fail category, unfortunately it's in the nursery rhyme category. The twist when we see princess goblin at the top is genuinely funny. Your landscaping as always is great. However you know what's coming, I have to go with you opponent as they stuck to the brief. Better luck next time!
Absolutely right. Thanks man!
