Pennsylvania Railroad R1
The GG1s smaller cousin, the R1. This engine was one of the designs that was beaten out by the GG1. Hope you enjoy
About this creation
Despite its looks, this is not the famous GG1. I wanted to build a GG1, but the wheels were not going to fit on the curves. this is why I decided to go with a 4-8-4 that could navigate the rails.

The R1 was developed around the same time but lost out to the GG1. The locomotive did run along northeast corridor and did occasionally pull the Broadway Limited from NYC to Harrisburg.

I used Lionel sized decals for the pinstripes as well as the keystones

There are two 9v motors so there is no lack of power.

Fantastic job ! Love how you built the windows. You even built it in dark red I think it was called tuscan red anyway this is beautiful. I built one years ago but I just used green yuck! I keep meaning to buy some dark green and rebuild it and I think you have inspired me to do it. Excellent
