Well this one was a pain, I can see why people get burned out on big projects. Basically this is my first real castle creation. For ideas I just kinda looked around at other castles and incorporated a few things I liked, as well as some of my own building techniques. The tower has 4 floors: basement which is mostly a dungeon and torture chamber; The first floor which is the kitchen and eating area; The Second floor is the female barracks and bath; and the third floor is the meeting room of the current Consular of the Legion Reach, and Fortress Commander, who is Preator Rank. Thanks for rating/commenting.
About this creation
In the 20 years following the defeat of Praetor Varinius in the forests at the hands of Varga, the Empire drastically overhauled its strategy in dealing with the tribes of the North. Having previously under estimated their ability to organize and field an army, The Emperor and his advisers regrouped and began to treat the Norseman as a viable threat to their plans of conquest.
First, the Expeditionary Forces were upgraded to a fully supplied legion, The Legion Reach. Secondly, the title of Consular was created, answerable only to the Emperor and his advisers. There are five Consulars, each one overseeing the five Legions of the Empire.
After the fall of Varinius, Preator Palladius was hand picked by the Emperor to subdue the new barbarian army, and conquer the vast lands north of the wall. His campaigns were ruthless. He marched the Legion Reach directly into the heart of the north, burning villages and annihilating any resistance he came across. On one occasion, the legion came across a large northern settlement on the edge of a vast lake. Rumors of Palldius's mercilessness had reached the walls of the vast city, and as he rode up he was met by the chieftan of the village. The chieftan had offered the unconditional surrender of the town, as well as gold, slaves and other valuable items. Before the chieftan could even finish his proposal, Palldius drew his gladius and ran him through his open mouth. He then proceeded to lay siege to the settlement and with a few days the town, and everyone in it, were wiped of the face of the Earth.
His military successes, as well as ruthlessness in battle, earned him the name Palladium the Adamant, as he could not be swayed to achieve nothing less than total victory against the north, as by will of the Emperor.
To solidify the land gained from his campaigns, as well as to serve as testament to the vast resources and might of the Empire, Palladius commissioned the building of a great fortress in the heart of the north, far from the wall. The fortress borrows some of the techniques seen in dwarven architecture, particularly using a stone door with slits cut into it at the entrance of the fortress.
The Fortress is the base of operations for the Legion Reach, and is partially named because of them, the other half being taken from Palladius's alias. Hearing that a new fortress had been built in the heart of the north, explorers, merchants and hunters from all corners of the Empire used this area to gather valuable goods to be taken back into the heart of the Empire. Soon after, hardy Imperial citizens wishing to escape the city life, made their way out to the fortress and a moderately sized village sprang up in the shadow of the fortress.
It is now early Autumn in the North. The trees are just beginning to change color, the last wildflowers will soon die off. Soon, it will time to harvest the last batch of crops for the winter. The winters in the north are harsh, so both soldiers and villagers work to secure the area for the months to come.
I think it is a great MOC. I would leave away a few flowers and birds?!? in the water, I think they are distracting from the rest.
Your trees look great, I especially like the one in one of the last pictures, with two colors green, they look like they are fresh leaves.
The building itself is very nice. And the rockwork around the waterfall is pretty cool.
Quoting Toa Infernum
Nice! Some of the pictures could use work, but the MOC is great! Are the leaves Altbricks?
Yes the leaves are altbricks. As far as photos I tried using my walls as a white background. I believe it turned out better than the last creation as far as photos, however my camera just isn't up to par yet. Thanks for the comment.
