Lego Technic Tow Truck 1:10
About this creation
This is my Tow Truck scale 1:10, inspired by Iveco Stralis. The vehicle is an evolution of my Iveco Stralis MOC, but with several modification ... finally the only similar thing is the general cab design.
It is completly IR controlled, 4 wheels drive with 1 differential for axle.
It is 4 wheels steering (1° and 2° axle with different steering angle between them), with working steering wheel.
The first two axles have independent suspensions, the 3° and the 4° are live axles.
It has a pneumatic pump for compressed air, moved by 1 M motor. 4 M Motors moves 4 pneumatic valves, 1 for the cab tilting, 1 for move the main arm up and down, 1 for the stabilizers and one for the secondary arm.

I tried to implement many details as the interiors of the cab, the mirrors, the rear access ladder, the side compartments, the fire extinguishers, some specific tools like a winch extension, the wedges ... so the weight has gone up and the speed performance are quite low, but I'm satisfied with the performance of the lifting equipment ... would have been nice to have the air tanks (too expensive) and something like a non-return valves.

Dimensions:

Height: 51 (45) studs (without aerials)
Width: 37 (31) studs (without mirrors)
Length: 104 studs
Weight: 8.9 Kg

PF Elements:

4 XL Motors for Drive
2 M Motors for Steering (first and second axles)
2 IR Receivers for Drive and Steering
2 AAA Battery Packs

1 M Motor for Pneumatic Pump
4 M Motors for Pneumatic Valves
1 M Motor for Winch
3 IR Receivers for Special Features
1 AAA Battery Pack
2 PF Lights for Front Light
1 PF Switch for Front Light
1 Extension Cable

Pneumatic elements:

1 S Pnematic Pump
4 M Pneumatic Cylinders for Main Arm
1 M Pneumatic Cylinders for Secondary Arm
1 S Pneumatic Cylinder for Secondary Arm
2 M Pneumatic Cylinders for Stabilizer
1 M Pneumatic Cylinder for Cab Tilting

I hope you enjoy it!!

This would be good even in a model contest! The detail is amazing, even down to the steering. I really love how you've been able to make a steering design that doesn't come out of alignment every time you turn. Designs like that require lots of skill.

I think this is a great model and thanks for sharing this. I wish I had the skill and bricks for a build like this. I am going to do an RC race and if I had that I would use it to rescue rc cars that ran out of battery. You are fantastic

Quoting kevin prestridge do you went to sell it how much
Unfortunately it isn't for sale. It would however be very difficult to calculate. I don't use any software to design my MOC, so I don't know exactly how many and which parts I used and so it's very difficult to calculate the cost.

Wow! Stunning truck! It has really great functions! I especially like the mechanism of the outriggers! And the bodywork is fantastic, too! I thougt seeing the small picture that it is made of system elements, but it's technic! Great work! :) Maybe you are interested in my latest big technic creation: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/365406

Quoting Technic Man Yes, ok. I was looking at some data about the measurements, and it needs only 2 studs of width (more aproximated to 1 stud, but it's better to add 2). The height is right.
I agree, also I have used the blueprint for the basic dimension, I use them for work, and the advice that i can give you is to consider the dimensions written on them, the graphical representation is not always perfectly in scale. I prefer to build (for the width) in odd numbers, so, in your case, even I would add 2 studs , but considering that you use only the parts contained in the 41999 offical set, I think, that it is already a great achievement.

I build my MOC's with blueprints, It's the best way of having the right proportions. I'm almost sure my Man isn't 1/11 (as you say "1/10,77"). I build it with a blueprint with 1/10. Anyway, something that doesn't help is the colour. My MAN is dark blue, and your IVECO is bright red.

Quoting Technic Man One more thing. Are you sure the truck is exactly 1/10? It seems to be too big, something like 1/9,5 scale. My MAN TGX is exactly 1/10 scale and seems to be a bit smaller. Not too much, but a bit. Waiting for an answer.
I'm sure it is not exactly 1:10!!;-) For example, taking the width of the cab, my MOC is 248 mm (31 studs x 8 mm) wide, the real is 2550 mm, so it would be 1:10,28...I rounded. If I am not mistaken, your MAN is 29 studs wide (232 mm), the real one is 2500 mm (the first pdf with spec that I have found on the web) so the scale of your MOC would be 1:10,77, I think that the difference is really minimal. Besides, this MOC was inspired by an Iveco Stralis and not a perfect reproduction of a real model, so, once I find the basic dimensions, I started trying to build it aesthetically proportionate.

Quoting dion leijnse This is awesome. Are you going to make instructions? This is actually the second fully remote controlled truck in lego with unimog wheels as far as i have seen.
Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately no, I not have the time and I built the truck without using a PC, so I not have a MLCad files or documentations. I think that it is the 5th that used the Unimog wheels: this from Sheepo http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/346366 , this from Sephirot8082 http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/356242 , this from Sariel http://sariel.pl/2013/10/dakar-truck/ , and obviously my old Iveco Stralis.
