Skipper
About this creation
So, after nearly two years of building, I decided that now would be a good time to try to build something that wasn’t predominately bley. Why not? I am stuck in ship-building mode, though, so bear with me while I get that all out of my system.

The challenge here was to build something while The Insurrection remains intact. My collection is diminished considerably with so many pieces still occupied there, and I’m happy to say that I completed this build with minimal cannibalizing of the SHIP.

This is a personal space travel vehicle, known as a spacer. The purpose of this spacer is to make high speed jumps from planet to planet, which is where the manufacturer got the name Planet Skipper. With familiarity, the name got cut down to Skipper. (Is there even enough back story there to be considered a back story?)

Now, most of my ships are made for combat, which calls for a smaller cockpit and windscreen. As this is a ship meant for personal travel, I felt that it needed more windows for viewing capabilities, as well as a larger cockpit complete with, yes, a cup holder, and a lot less weaponry, which is to say, none at all. I also thought that it called for a more casual-looking fig behind the controls, which is why this pilot looks a lot less like a clone than the rest of my pilots. However, why he needed an Anakin hair style, I’ll never know.

The first two shots are obviously edited, with the second being an attempt to make it look more like an advertisement. Let’s have a look, shall we?

A look at the engines. I'm pretty pleased with how these turned out. I couldn't resist making these dk bley.

I tried to keep the greebles down to a minimum on this build, but I just wouldn't be me if I kept them all out.

Here is a look at the forward landing gear. There a couple skids on the back for rear support.

As you can see here, the landing gear tucks away pretty neatly.

The cockpit with the fig. I think this is pretty close to being my favorite cockpit in any of my ships.

A look at the cockpit without the fig.

Cockpit, fig, and removed windscreen. On a side note, the windscreen is comprised of five different windscreens, which is my first attempt at that kind of design.

Thanks for having a look-see. Let me know what you think.

Good job tim! But it's prone to malfunction if the coffee spills.

Wonderful, great colors compact design. At first glance, the ship looks simple. But only at first glance

An awesome ship with an awesome colour scheme, the whole design looks bulky and just right. But, although incredible, the cockpit just looks too empty for it's size... I mean if that's your thing it's cool, but the first time I saw this I thout "space bus!", because of the long design. I'm just saying, while the exterior is very well done the interior could be done very well too, your large designs have lots of potential for corridors and rooms and computers and rotating seats... With this said, I still think this is the best thing since ever, when it comes to being yellow and fast and spacey!

Quoting Mike Johnson "Simply Irrestible" just like in the song! Love the cockpit and hidden landing gear too.
Thanks, Mike. That landing gear gave a bit of trouble because I decided to add it late in the building process, but I'm glad I went with it.

Quoting Sebeus I Very nice, I like that cokpit alot, great visibility for the pilot.
Thanks, Sebeus. That was one of the big objectives for this build.

Quoting Mastermind ¿? Dang! This is seriously cool! I love how you always manage to put brick with brick and plate with plate to form a seamless shape. Each brick sleekly merges with another and creates a very, very great look! But one thing surprised me: There's not one single, little, teeny, harmless laser cannon on the ENTIRE ship? At least stick a railgun or two on top :D
Hahaha! Nope, Mastermind. No weapons on this one. This is a personal commuter ship, which would be the equivalent of my car. So, putting guns on this would be like putting guns on my car. Trust me, Mastermind, even just a railgun or two on my car when I'm running tight on time on the way to work and hit a traffic jam...not the best combo;)

A most excellent civillian spacecraft. It seems a bit much to transport only one person from point a to be, but is probably realistic to what a 1-person spaceship really would be like. Gorgeous, detailed design, while maintaining a sleek yellow overall design.

Really Nice build. I like the colors used and the cockpit design. It looks like it could be a distant relative to this: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/286925 The greebling is really well done and like you said it just wouldn't be you without it.

A thing of beauty! Superb retro-space colours and the styling has a real 50s to 70s vibe to me too. Some of it must be that big, glazed canopy dome. I agree: the cockpit is very neat, plus space for a coffee mug. I also that double "M" shape at the back, with the engines tucked inside. Finally there's some quality greebling. My favourite is the simplest; the stacked dishes.

The multi-piece cockpit is a great idea (you know I love this sort of thing although with a more CS feel). I'm so happy you're branching out from the military theme, and embracing colour. The advertisement picture tells me a lot about the lego space world of your creations - that pilot looks like one serious playboy, maybe that's why he's adopted the Anakin look? The fit of the landing skis are superb too.

Classic Tim! Love that cockpit, the coffee cup is vital. Makes it completely personal. The overall shape is ultra-utilitarian. Almost taxi like. Might be the color blocking, which is great. I can picture these everywhere, the Ford Escort of space. I love the subtle greebling as well. It really lends itself as something you could drive off the lot for "little or no money down". Just simply a great feel overall, almost comfortable and reliable. Excellent!
