Lego Technic 8448 UltraMod Bugatti Veyron Inspired
Modified version of the 8448 model yet again, this time with a 16 cylinder engine - inspired by the Bugatti Veyron.
About this creation
A day after I published my first 8448 mod, I thought I'd spend the rest of the day modifying my 8448 again. I've always wanted to make a 4 wheel drive but I never got round to it. Recently, I've been inspired by the Bugatti Veyron's impressive engine and so I tried creating my own 16 cylinder engine. I found it was impossible to configure the cylinders into a W16 while remaining compact like the Bugatti Veyron, so I went for an X16 design instead to conserve space (V16 is too long, and lego technic is extremely limited). Well I did it in the end and it now sits happily at the back of my 8448. With its immense size it was impossible to fit the convertible roof on so I modified that as well and now it functions to shelters both the tightly-packed X16 engine and its passengers perfectly. I retained most of the pre-existing mods, such as the scissor doors, pedal brake, hand brake, and spoiler (with slight modifications to them all). Even the electric motor was repositioned, and as much as possible I maintained the overall form (frame and chasis) of the 8448 in order to remain loyal to the original design as much as I could.

NEW! I have upgraded the 8448 yet again. Here is the new version:

There is one catch however, I had used the 4 universal joints of the back wheels for the front wheels, so in effect it is pretty much a front wheel drive vehicle, for the moment. Once i get my hands on 4 more U-joints, and an extra differential, then it will be a champion. I'm also thinking of making it fully remote-controlled in the future, whilst retaining its manual features.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the result. I have a 16 cylinder, 4 wheel drive-capable ultracar, though I'm hoping I can be able to do better in the future.

i agree with both, robert and frank. because even though it has an awesome engine, it doesnt really look like the real car.. and the front wheels wont be sturdy with that setup.. I say, you should make another car, make it more like the real bugatti veyron, and put the X16 in that.. ps,how did you get all 16 pistons to function?

Very cool but just because it has a W16 or X16 doesn't make it a Bugatti Veyron 16.4. I thought it looked like a Mitsubishi Eclipse.
