Onadus didn't like anybody. And he was pretty sure that nobody liked him.
Well, that might not have always been true. Back when he was still part of the Toa Order, maybe people liked him then. He was a Toa of Plasma, who protected the Av-Matoran as they prepared for the arrival of Mata Nui. That was when he had gained recognition. A Matoran was trapped in Karda Nui, in the beginning of the Energy Storm. Onadus alone had traveled back to save him -- protected by nothing but a mask of Electrical Immunity.
Shortly after the Av-Matoran left the Karda Nui area. Onadus was their leader. But he was bored. He didn't want to govern the quarrels of these Matoran, he wanted to fight. To crush evil beneath his shield. Trying to make the best of it, he began to challenge the Av-Matoran to fights to test his strength, and to make them ready to fight. Then someone came from Helryx, telling him that his conduct was not fitting for a Toa, and that he had to leave.
He left and traveled far to the south of Karda Nui. The Rahi there were dangerous and savage, good for keeping strangers out and to fight with. He made his plans to overthrow the Toa Order, and replace it with an army of warriors to destroy Mata Nui's enemies, maybe even overthrow Mata Nui and rule in his stead.
Then Jethryn came. That upstart, foolish Toa of Lightning. Onadus thought he was an agent of Helryx, not an exiled Toa like himself, and promptly attacked him. The two fought a battle that echoed through the barren landscape. Onadus tried to have Jethryn join him in his plans. He had refused.
Life had continued after that as normal for him. That changed on the day that Jethryn had returned. He was not content with simply accepting exile, he said. He was gathering together a group of exiles and secret warriors, to protect the Matoran and Mata Nui in ways the others could not. Onadus accepted him. A group of strong warriors would certainly aid him in his plans, and even before that, he would be able to fight for Mata Nui, as he had wanted.
Maybe, just maybe, he had found his home.
Fourth Wall comments: Well hello there, everybody! This is my entry to Round 3 of the BIONICLE MOCing Challenge. The category was "Titan". I already had a Titan in the works, but using that as my entry would disqualify me. So, with permission to do such given by the judges, I decided to enter with a titanized revamp of Onadus.
Unassuming front view pose.
Back view, with wings folded and shield holstered. The former function came from the original model and its tiny wings, and I'm kind of glad that he's titan-sized, so that these wings will fit. The latter function came with the removal of his cape to go to Jethryn's hood.
Leg close-up. No Hero Factory upper leg his time. (Well, actually, there is somewhere else on him, and it's not in the usual spot. If you find it, you get a virtual cookie.)
Torso close-up. I have problems with torsos, and his bigger shoulders proved a challenge. I finally finished his torso with the Mistika fins on the last day of building.
Mechanical arm. Since I only have one orange hand, I made the arm as an explanation for him only having one normal hand, and also his shield can rotate.
Here he is holding his shield...
"For the glory of the fallen!"
Realized one can't quite see the plasma blades on a red background (or a white one for that matter), so here's a better image of the shield.
Wings outspread. "For freedom we rise!" (Come on, he's Phantoka-themed...)
The back, wings unfolded. Ew. Didn't remember to work on the back, because the wings were covering it, and hopefully will remain so.
Now the test--does it fit the minimum height limit of eleven inches?
Yes, just barely. The problem here was that I didn't want to make him too high, just at slightly taller than the rest of his custom-built team. I was going to make another possible entry, but didn't have enough time.
Maybe sticking a few friction balljoints will help. (Man, I have got to get more of those pieces.)
Well, he does stand taller than an official titan (Icarax, destined for scrapping soon) but is shorter than Other Jethryn.
With Jethryn. Onadus stands a head taller, officially the tall guy of the Outcasts. Eltre, however, is about the same in height (not counting vines/ mask extension).
One more comparison before I leave, with Toa Solek, my entry to the first round of the BMC. Looking at the two entries together, I daresay TANGERINE
Well, that's it for now (though I think I have another MOC or two to post soon.) Comments/critiques are welcome below.
I like the unique design for the shield mount to conceal the wings when retracted; neat gimmick. The legs, while custom, left me feeling like the black interior brackets looked exposed, somehow. Same with those stacked 'l' brackets that make up the heels; no coverage - parts attrition? Anyhoo, my two cents. ~Cheers
It's nice but It could be a lot better.
Especially posing. I feel sometimes your mocs are just posed a little bad and makes the Moc look weird in some pics.
That being said the legs are nice but they should be a bit thicker to give that Titan feel.
I also don't like the way the orange gears(?) overhang off the leg.
The arms are nice but not executed to well.
I like the mechanical idea arm but I feel the hand looks awkward without the shield attached, and the gap in the arm doesn't really make me like it anymore than what it is..but it does add a mechanical look.
The torso looks nice but a bit to big for me.
Though I LOVE the use of the mistika fins on there. That looks really nice there.
But then the open space afterwards...almost kills it for me.
But then it looks mechanical...and I kinda like it!
Anyway nice job!
Kai here looks....wait I mean Onadus here looks awesome! I like what you did by giving a mecha-arm and the torso with additional equipment is also a nice touch. You really improved a lot comparing this version of Onadus with the last one. Great job Storm! :)
