2013 BBG Round 2: Jacob Pennington vs. Braydon L.
About this creation
Category: Life-sized medieval Weapons
Be it ax, sword, or spear, build a weapon out of LEGO that can fit in your hand.

Here is the BBG Home Page .

And here is my opponents page and his entry .

During my thinking process of what to build, I thought it would be more fun to go eastern themed with this challenge. I was given permission from Lee, so I decided to go ahead with it. This blade is also known as the Wakizashi, not to be confused with the traditional Katana, which is much longer. The Wakizashi was a shorter sword, meant for high ranking samurai in feudal Japan. The Wakizashi was built for close quarter combat and hand to hand fighting. The sword I built has a blade 12.5 inches long.

A close up shot on the handle, which was far more challenging that I first thought it would be. The string at the end(yes, it's from Lego)can be tied to a belt, or around a belt loop.

And a shot of the blade, which, as I said before, stands at 12.5 inches in length.

And last but not least, the shot proving this weapon can be held in someone's hand(in this case, my hand.)

All in all, this challenge was really out of my comfort zone, but really fun to build for. I would like to wish my opponent, Braydon, good luck, and thanks to the judges for taking their time to do this competition. And please remember to rate and comment!

Well with a name like mine I had to look at this creation first. Loving the hilt and guard, great blade too.

I'm sorry you didn't make it to the 3rd round. You did a good job and I loved competing with you.

Your entry is a tad more realistic, and the string on the end is fantastic. That being said, the shaping on Braydon's is stellar, and my vote goes to him.

Pretty nice. I think I prefer the greater complexity and detail of Braydon's build though...
