Here is my LDD Tiger 1 model. It is built to minifig scale. You can find my updated version here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/383147
About this creation

The Tiger I was a heavy Wehrmacht tank, built in response to the Soviet's T-34 and KV-1. It weighed in at 57 tons and was introduced in 1942.

Over 1,300 were built before the end of the war.

The Tiger I was the first tank to carry the impressive KwK 36 L/56 88mm gun. This devastating gun was extremely accurate due in part to its high muzzle velocity, very flat trajectory, and Leitz Turmzielfernrohr TZF 9b gun sight.

The Tiger I was notoriously over-engineered, making it expensive to produce and maintain. Although it was a significant design and technical achievement, its practicality in the field was less than ideal.

The tank used a Maybach HL230 P45 V12 gasoline engine that was good for 690 hp and a top speed of 38 kph. The engine drove the front sprockets. The massive engine was a real fuel hog. Its size and track width made it difficult to transport. Roads, bridges, and trains had difficulty dealing with this massive machine.

The Tiger had frontal hull armour of 100m and frontal turret armour of 120mm. The armour plates were mostly flat but interlocked, which made it very resilient. Only very large calibre guns were able to breach its armour.

The Tiger I was designed as an offensive tank but the need for defensive strategies later in the war took the tank out of its natural element. When used in its natural offensive capacity, Tiger units racked up impressive kill ratios, sometimes exceeding 10:1.

The Tiger I has always been a sentimental favourite of mine. I was glad to finally make a model of it.

Quoting Andrew Kovalev Hello, any chance of getting some piece of instructions?
Thanks for checking out my Tiger I Andrew. I haven't made instructions for the Tiger I but I may in the future. Stay tuned!

Quoting Jerry Temple Very nice Tiger! I thought the Tiger's front armor was 88mm though? The Tiger II's front armor was 100mm or something like that, I believe.
Thanks for your comments Jerry. I got the armour dimensions from Wikipedia's entry on the Tiger I. Not the most reliable source but at least you know where the information came from!

Quoting killswitch95 [DEMON] so hows the Tiger/Maus (E-100) coming?
Right now, its still in the contemplation phase. I have several other projects that need to be completed before I think about new ones. Keep your eyes open though, you never know what might happen!

Quoting Alex Sonny Nice Tiger, very well made turret, not too complicated, yet accurate. The suspension and track are nice too, the ratios between roadwheels and sprockets are great. Since there are mana tigers out there, it's hard to build a good one, but you did it!
Thanks for your generous comments Alex. I enjoy making accurate models but I also like making them look simple. This usually means following the logic of how lego works and trying not to force too many things. Sometimes my models are not as accurate because of it but its a compromise I can live with. Thanks for taking an interest in my work!

Quoting World Of Recreation Wow! Neat Angles! I especially love the turret.
Thanks for the comments. I went through a few iterations of the Tiger I before settling on the final design. It was tricky to get the turret shape close to the original.

Quoting Matt Bace I never get tied of seeing Tiger tank MOCs. This one is very good. I particularly like how you used a minifig head for the muzzle brake. Nice job!
Thanks Matt! I do enjoy the Tiger MOCs as well. I like everyone's take; they're always a little different but equally interesting.
