Building On Bond
Building on Bond: The name of one of my local brunch spots. This building is at the corner of Pacific and Bonds Streets in my neighborhood in Brooklyn. Iíve wanted to replicate this one for a while now and found some time to do it over the past two weekends. The build took about 12 hours. Iíve since added one more small tree to the model. The body of the building is built with dark-medium flesh colored bricks and the street level is olive green. Tree leaves are AltBricks leaves.

Have I commented on how awesome this is yet? Because if I haven't, here I am thinking again about how awesome this is...

Quoting Steven Barile Hi Jonathan, You mentioned below that you are building MOCs in anticapation for a layout. Do you have a grid size you are targeting? I know you're building sub minifig scale these days. I think you call it 4 wide. What's the foot print of this one?
Hi Steve, Thanks. Not sure what you mean by grid size. Do you mean street grid size? If so, I donít plan my layouts around a grid. I would find that to limiting. I build the streets around the size of the accumulated buildings. I donít use street base plates. (theyíre to restricting for me as well). The footprint of this building, with the sidewalk, appears to be 27 studs wide by: 60 studs long from the photos (I think). I'd have to double check to be certain. Not sure this is helpful? But, happy to elaborate more.

Really great MOC! I especially like how you made the windows. Having the "glass" behind the arches gives it some real depth. The planter boxes, garbage can, and especially the fire escape really add to the overall realism. Google Street View verifies that you nailed it. Looks like a nice neighborhood too. I really enjoyed these pics! Thanks for posting them.

Quoting Elk Guard Amazing work as usual! Is this part of an ongoing layout still?
Thanks! A layout eventually. . . but, I don't have the space right now. So, I am using my current situation to refine my building skills while waiting for the right opportunity to build a layout. This will be part of it (as will my other buildings)

I love the fact little by little you are documenting the streets of New York City in locations not oft visited! An interesting journal technique! I think you should contact DK Books and do a MY NEW YORK CITY - LEGO STYLE book!

Wow, this is beautiful! Some of my favorite details are the fire escape, the corner brick work, and, of all things, the trash can, which seems just right. Excellent work!
