"They will call me Zhao the conqueror! Zhao the Moon Slayer! ZHAO THE INVINCIBLE!" ~Admiral Zhao
About this creation
I've had the idea to make Fire Nation ships for the longest time, ever since I first watched the first episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender. While relatively simple to make and being one of my smaller builds, it is by far one of my most favorite. But enough of that, time for some Avatar history.
Near the end of the 100 Year War, Admiral Zhao, leader of the Fire Nation's navy, decided to take the fate of the Northern Water Tribe into his own hands...and to remove the moon as a factor. Water benders draw their power from the moon, without that, the Fire Nation could dominate the Northern Water tribe. Deep within the walls of the Water Tribe, a moon spirit called Tui swims with her partner, the ocean spirit, La. That's what Zhao is after.
Behold, Zhao's flagship! What makes it better than the others you ask? Simply because the helm is one story higher than the others. :P
Here is a real Fire Nation ship, just for comparison. :)
And I couldn't resist. I had to make Prince Zuko's ship. When banished to find the Avatar, his father gave him what I like to call a "dingy" ship. While still large, it is much smaller than the average battleship and armed with only one catapult.
And some size comparison between Admiral Zhao's ship and Prince Zuko's.
At the end of the invasion, Zhao failed to destroy the moon spirit or to take over the Water Tribe. Instead, his fleet was defeated by the Avatar, and he was banished to a spirit prison for eternity.
I plan to do a lot more microscale Avatar: The Last Airbender machines and weapons in the future, so look out for that. And thanks for looking, and please remember to rate and comment! :)
