M.I.P. Pistrix: Aft Section
A month of blood, sweat, tears, color-haggling, sketch-drawing, Skype-calling, post-officing, and nail-biting finally paid off as Max and Ian slid each of our three sections of the SHIP onto the central peg and clicked them into place. Voila! Here is the M.I.P Pistrix, a 105 stud long corporate cruiser built for SHIPtember over on Flickr. The piece was a collaboration between myself, Max Pointner, and Ian Spacek. The name of the SHIP is derived from the Latin word for "shark" because of the resemblance to a hammerhead. Featuring a distinctive light bley, dark tan, and dark red color scheme, the SHIP is an experiment in tricky angles, asymmetry, and plenty of greebles. Overall, I don't think we did too shabby for builders who rarely venture into sci-fi. In fact, we were so happy with how it came together, that you might see it at Brickworld 2014!
About this creation
This SHIP was built for a challenge/contest over on Flickr headed up by Simon Liu. The challenge was to build a hundred-stud long spaceship in only a month. You can check out all of the spaceships here.

Take a look at Ian Spacek's section.

Take a look at Max Pointner's section.

Below are images of my part of the collaboration: the section that I mailed to the guys in Chicago.

These are some of the sketches that Max and I did before we started the build process. It's interesting to see the evolution of the idea in just under a month!

Thanks for stopping by, and Soli Deo Gloria!

Amazing! I love this section, it reminds me of the sci-fi designs of the 60s and 70s (it's a good thing.) It's bulky but logical, it is how an actual designer would design something to venture through space. Absolute form follows function, a wonderful contrast to Max's forward section. The central "cut" through is fantastic. Excellent!
