Delranne dashed swiftly up the winding stone staircase leading to the top level of the main tower. As he rounded the corner he stopped frozen in his steps. Lying in the middle of the room rested is father's bleeding limp body and standing over him, holding a steel batteaxe stood a Mythronian general!
"Ah, there you are young prince. I have been expecting you! Surrender the shards of the mighty blade to me and I will spare the same fate as this poor soul!" the general hissed.
"Never! They belong to the royal family of Ithrene. I will NEVER let you have them!" Delranne answered defiantly.
"Then so be it!" the Mythronian general answered in frustration.
The general clapped his hands as two soldiers appeared through the doorway.
"Guards, take care of him! I have more important matters to attend to!" the general barked, as disappeared in a cloud of blue smoke.
The two guards rushed towards Delranne, with one swing of his blade Delranne sliced the hand of one of the guards, and knocked the other to the floor.
Seeing that his opponents were immobile for the time being, Delranne ran to his father's side.
"I'm sorry my son. Ithrene has fallen into the hand of our enemies!" Lord Calreene exclaimed in a raspy voice.
"No, it can't have...!" Delranne answered sadly.
"There is but one hope. Legend has it that the Iron Dwarves are the only ones who can reforge the ancient sword. Go now, my son, Delranne and find King Norann (king of the Iron Dwarven Kingdom of Dralnor) he is the only one who can help us. One last thing. I hope that one day, our kingdom may be restored to it's former glory! I go now to be with our father's so long my son, for the glory of Ithrene!" Calrenne exclaimed as slowly died.
Delranne mourned for his father for only a moment, but then he saw the Mythron guard rising to his feet again.
Delranne slowly backed out of the room, through the archway and onto the tower terrace, all the while watching the Mythron guard as he approached him.
Cornered between the guard and the edge of the terrace, Delranne knew he had no other choice but to take the plunge, or face certain death at the hands of his enemy. With one large leap Delranne flipped backwards through the air, off the balcony and down towards the inky blackness below.
In that moment, Delrane knew that for the first time in his life, he was comepletely alone!
